Phew, after a year and a half? It's finally coming to an end… it was definitely a long and fun journey.

Anyway, this time it was Mooyoung and Jeongah who got eliminated. Mooyoung was expected since she already gave hints about it in the previous chapter, and Jeongah… there's nothing much shown of her other than always being at Soae's side.

And I truly didn't expect there would be new trainees joining; that means there's absolutely no chance for both Suryeon and, oooooh, especially oooooh Minji to debut, and more harem for Sanghyun, I guess? Haha. I guess Author-sama is really just going to use Suryeon as Yoil's stepping stone.

Lastly, we're shown Soae's devastated expression here by author-sama. I'm really curious why now… There are only a few possibilities I could think of.
  1. Soae thinks Sanghyun gave up on his dream due to the incident that happened before and couldn't come to terms with it.
  2. Soae realizes that Yoil and Sanghyun are the same person and is hurt because Sanghyun keeps lying to her, and she thinks Sanghyun doesn't trust her.
  3. That something Seoyoung said actually happened.
Is this what Sanghyun meant in his monologue before?

(If there's any weird phrase that makes it hard to understand, feel free to let me know.)

Wonjin is still energetic, and the mismatched chemistry between Davi and Teacher Sim Hayeon is also good.

As expected, Mooyoung chose a new path and left, but he will reappear.

Of the two new trainees, the one with black hair seems like she will be a good rival to Minji. She gives off a strangely dangerous vibe.

So-ae met her idol, Sang-hyun, but Sang-hyun confessed that he had given up on his dream, and So-ae was deeply shocked.

Information regarding the hiatus is expected to be released next week.

(Song Geukjang revealed that concluding Season 1 with Episode 71 was not the original plan.)

Oh, shit. That's such a heartbreaking thing to say at the end there. I can't believe the season has to end like this! You can't let me hang from this cliffhanger until season 2 comes out!

...Is what I'd like to say, but hearing about our dear author's health issues, well... I hope they come back hale and hearty, instead.

Good season all in all, however! It's really fascinating how the stranger theme pops up from time to time, and Mooyoung shifting gears to focus on a route that better aligns with her dreams is quite a telling example of it. There's already, of course, cracks in that identity—as she herself mentions that she's looking forward to working with Yoil. Of course, there's dips too, considering how much Sanghyun's inadvertently let Soae down... but I'm just making myself miserable getting stuck on that.

Anyway, here's hoping for a even better season 2, when that ever comes out!

Ohh noo So-ae nooo. Dun make that face you gonna make me cry.

Ironic that Yoil helped her find her motivation only for her motivation to be Sanghyun who is no longer on this path as Sanghyun.

At least she didn't say where she saw Yoil before, that would have made things so much worse.

I was expecting new trainees eventually especially with the thinning recently. Yoil joined after a bunch were eliminated. Minji said she has a soft heart so its nice to see her accepting she will lose friends on this path.

As soon as hiatus information is announced I'll go to the doctor and put myself in a drug induced coma till its back.

Thank you Kontoru and Archangel Owen, I hope you're the first people to translate the series when the hiatus ends. Especially because the official translation is jelly donuts bad.

Thank you, And my apologies to Dabi for underestimating her (she ended S1 on a high note), I now believe she will be a long haul character. So if a group of 5 has to debut then Wonjin, Cute Yellow Japanese, Soae, Yoil and New Trainee A or B or Dabi?

Suryeon though a good rival and mirror to Sanghyun's own insecurities is just a stepping stone. The Producer and PLOUD management are really cruel without a human heart to keep her and Unnie Bae just to hone Yoil and provide support to new trainees respectively.

Given how many late chapter releases there were in season 1, it's probably going to be quite a while before season 2 starts. At least Song Theater can finally take a much-needed break.

Not a fan of the ending, the series needs some serious writing work for the next season if I’m being honest.

Damn, the ending (of season 1) came sooner than my heart was ready for. Heck, it doesn't feel like an ending, just another chapter ending in one of the now classic cliffhangers. I want more!

Thank you Kontoru for your translations, as well as your notes. I won't lie, those notes have been a huge part of why I've enjoyed this comic so much.

As for the chapter itself:
-Coach Hayeon did better this time. Still comes across weird, but hey, baby steps.
-I didn't expect Mooyoung to leave, I thought she was among the top candidates? But it seems that she found her true calling.
-I didn't expect to have new trainees either, from both a corporate (shouldn't they start streamlining the candidate pool to get the final debut team soon?) and a narrative (I thought the author was cutting off the branches of the cast) perspective.
-If this is the ending (for now), this chapter needed Lee Ruha!

My guess is 1. 2 feels too rushed (when she hasn't got enough clues so far) and 3 might actually be related to 1. Given how much Soae looked up to Sanghyun and the irony that Sanghyun (as Yoil) was again the key to motivate her when she needed it most, the contrast with Sanghyun (apparently) abandoning his dreams must be painful.

From what I understand the author never planned season one to end like this but just really needed a break.

I knew it would end on a negative note though because that's what was needed for the story.

I hope Author Sama recovers soon. I know Song Theatre is a perfectionist so hopefully a brief break is enough. I don't think they're the type to sit twiddling there thumbs for too long either so I hope its a short break.
