I love that in a sequel game. Such a fun concept.

While it is in line with what was established in early chapters - understanding the words used for the spell weakens it (kanji in this case), it feels a bit underwhelming to see a random schmuck beat the MC, especially after last chapter where she received some sort of power unlock. Unless she can use the language of her own kingdom, which isn't known in this fantasy Japan, she'll be kinda neutralized by everyone here.

I agree with what the others say, Kenzaburou/Grace is probably gonna fanboy/fangirl over this bald guy, who's probably the protagonist of the earlier game.

I really appreciate all the trivia you include in the afternotes, it really helps to explain concepts unfamiliar to non-japanese people.

I get this is all ment to feal weirdly out of place as it's two games getting combined, but that haven't stopped the continuous immersion derailment. Was really injoying this way more pre second game, and the RL PoV/Commentary.

I do not think it is that simple, Grace may have shattered it and came out but she quickly returned back as well. Giving that, I think it is safe to assume that she is still not ready to come out of it and face the world around her.

But that alone speaks much. It is safe to assume that Grace knows by now that Ken is in control and all the actions he performed since then. The qeustion now is what is she waiting exactly?

Who's to say that Grace is idle inside that cage, what she may be waiting for is to learn enough to take back control. Maybe she likes what Ken is doing, thus is learning to continue it without him, so he can return to his own body.

Also I think there's a slip in the dialogue. Like, I don't know what the original text is, but "Edo residence of Mito domain" sounds awkward. It is a reference to how in the Edo shogunate period domain lords of a certain status are required to have a residence in the Edo capital for official business (江戸藩邸 Edo hantei). It feels like it would have been better written as "The Edo residence of Mito domain's lord" or "the Edo residence for Mito Domain".

Also of course there's going to be some random thuggery going on. If we're having a "Mito domain lord" we have to play "Mito-Koumon" LMAO. Our fake Ye Olde Japan setting is never complete without a Mito Koumon parody.
