looking at the raws it's 魔剣士 (makenshi), with the same ma as in mahou (magic, "magic" method), majo (witch, "magic" woman), mamono (~monster, "magic" thing), akuma (~devil, evil "magic") and of course mazoku ("magic" tribe), as in the guys being called demons here
魔剣 on it's own is also often used for and translated as cursed sword, so one might even translate it as cursed swordsman if bracketed as [魔剣]士. demon swordsman would better fit 魔[剣士] imo. I could see magic swordsman fitting both, depending on the english bracketing, ie. if the sword or the man is magic
of course there's no way to infer the intended bracketing from the text so

what i mean is that this “person” obviously doesn’t understand why normal people eschew a certain type of behavior, so i can only hope that god/fate/nature gives him a chance to gain experience as to why it’s bad. people without empathy always buckle and break down when they experience a little of what they inflict onto others, just look at homelander

It's not a spoiler. The real spoiler is that this prince is from the bad end route and is canon and not reincarnated. It's the personality the game prince is set with if the player tries to start a harem. All the other routes have nice MCs.

Why call MC "Demon Swordsman" when he is clearly meant to be a MAGIC swordsman, and the term demon is already used to describe a race.

A lot of people forget that the kanji for 'Ma' in Makenshi can mean both demon and magic.

So calling him a demon swordsman is akin to his enormous strength and his personality

I don't have the raws, but pretty sure the kanji involved is "魔剣士", which can be translated as either "Demon Swordsman" or "Magic Swordsman". That "魔" kanji is also used in the words for demon/devil (悪魔) and magic (魔法).

So it IS the usual Demon / Magic translation autism.
