Knights of Dex has been a thing for awhile. It seems to be a project by @Barto for contributors to help with the site more consistently without stepping on eachothers toes.. Probably.. I wouldn't know since I'm just a stand-in contributor who was forced into the role.

who are the Knights of Dex? i noticed the role on the Discord the other day. will any C*ntributors spill the beans? @Angry_Panda? @BakedBanana?

all i know is that Manko-sensei got the custom title "Knight of Dex" before (i noticed) the role was created on Discord

From what I understand, there are/have been 12 people who got the Knights of Dex role. It's been marketed as a Contributor+ role which are considered more trusted when it comes to metadata fixing.

You could also say it's Knights of Bart, since he's the one who gets to decide who gets the role, so.....yeah. 😅

I'm betting it's some similar to the "Power Uploader" role where you have to be actively contributing for a long period of time to get the role

And no, time means nothing. Just like the contributor role, vibes (and in this case Bart's whims) pretty much decide if you get the role.

Trobi lost his VIP role (for a few days he even managed to have mod privileges) during the loli incident basically for trolling (he reported himself and was automatically kicked or banned for some time from MangaDex Discord), but if he did so was because he wanted to put some distance with MangaDex staff. As for Roler, they also lost their piss colour role during that time, there was also that disagreement but, in case you don't know/remember, they aren't happy with the ongoing situation either. But yes, they're using MangaBaka guidelines and stuff while whatever NamiComi member is gatekeeping the metadata.

The special KoD channels were created on Nov 10th 2025, with an introduction message pinging the first batch of KoD on Jan 20th. These users did have the KoD role at that time, though I'm not sure if that's the day they actually got the role.

Me getting the title was more or less when I said "if we aren't getting a new role on the main site, can we at least get the custom title for the forums?".
