as a land god. he takes care of "his" land. not all land in existence. corruption comes from malice. insecurity, fears, jelousy ect negative emotion.

the land god has been continuously absorbing that from the land. preventing it from becoming cursed. and malice is produced by human.

the land god continuously become weaker due to the lack of worship and faith(as quality and quantity of worshipers decreased). while simultaneously becomes corrupted.

you can think of him as just transformed into a cursed spirit from JJK.
