Did you read what I wrote? Nothing did happen in Japan what would make sense to irritate him in the given time frame.

Lack of worship would make somewhat sense, but not the sudden shift from sane to insane in modern Japan, especially with the reasons given directly from the god himself.

It might not be properly explained in the manga, but what the wn said was that the corruption was happening his entire existence, and finally the corrupted alter ego became strong enough to overpower his main ego. It's not a sudden thing, it's just the straw which broke the camels back.
