It's not THAT bad. They're more of the "We don't support it but we respect it" type. They don't really talk about it that much, but when they do, it's quite annoying. I am planning to move to a college dorm once I graduate, though. College debt be dammed.

Just don't take any loans out for it. No matter what, its always a scam. And get the basics done at a community college too. Also be careful any fraternity or sorority business and remember any sort of hazing is likely illegal wherever you live.

Is this enough pestering to be annoying or shall I continue?

At that point just learn German and migrate to Germany, public universities are free there. I guess one only learns those tricks when they're past university time... (which means you can still move and study a second degree).

I have no particular interest in pursuing a graduate degree at this point, since I'm not working in my major field (music) and have no desire to. For any topic within that field I may be curious about, I can get a text and work through it myself.

Well, everything in life (including art) is political, so the mods themselves are screwed. Back to topic, here public unis are not free (unless you get honours/are an elite sportist) but on average they cost one month of minimal wage (full-time). This is one reason why working adults get degrees even if they don't need them for work, and there are even university courses that are meant for middle-aged/retired people who want to know more but without reaching a degree level (and extremely affordable).
