Have we ever focused on the FMC and her parentage? Like her mom looks like she's supposed to be non-Japanese but she has an odd Japanese sounding name (Riria. Unless it's supposed to be "Lillia" and was translated wonky. It's still not a real name but it sounds more plausible as something that an English speaker might invent or use as a short-form of "Lillian". And I'm not referring to her surname since she is married to someone Japanese)

She also, of course, acts mostly kind of acceptably Japanese-ish, because there's this weird balancing act with Japan fetishizing foreigners/westerners while also soundly rejecting the idea that anyone should act in any way other than by proper Japanese social norms unless it's for comedy purposes.

Yukio has been around since the first chapter, he's just had a minor presence despite being the MC's best friend. And while it's sorta meant to be ambiguous whether he's an unmasculine boy or secretly a girl, there's never been enough focus to actually guess. At the very least, the MC knows him as a boy so I'd say translate it that way.

Author needs to just play that card already. Definitely hinting at some "I was a girl all along!" reveal. It's too Japanese to do otherwise.
