It's pretty common, but I'm always a bit surprised to see strong characters forget the old proverb: "Beware of an old man in a profession where men usually die young."

it is pretty normal, like if the old man is actually well know then no one would question that, but if you saw a "nobody" come in, you don't see him as "man, that guy must have a lot of experience", it would just be "is he still trying this at his age?"

Well true, if I see a random old guy that dressed shabbily, I wouldn't tjhink he's that strong either. But don't you think they should but some trust in their teammates word who literally saw him with his own eye? One said the guy just picked up Soma's leftover despite him saying otherwise, the other wonder how MC manage to deceive Soma in person. Either they are hard-headed or Soma is just simply very untrustworthy.

Sure, if you don't have any supporting evidence it would be sensible to write him off as some random old man...but here you have your leader's testimony plus video. It's fine to be skeptical, but to just toss the evidence aside, is pretty short-sighted.

the video at the moment is still pretty basic anyway, none of them see him fight the boss outside of their leader so it is not easy for them to imagine someone with that much power even exist without anyone notice.
like they can still believe he is strong, just not overwhelming strong like their leader keep telling them he is.

This is painful to watch. If left alone the main character could murder all four of them if they were in the dungeon, yet here they keep acting like they’re actually something. Lucky for them MC is a pushover instead of an outright asshole

Oh, come on. So they are just the dumbest people to ever walk the planet? Do they have zero clue that anyone ever went into a dungeon before them? And to think your teammate, who saw the guy in action, might have been 'fooled' versus an experienced older dungeon crawler maybe having a bit of power and technique... something he's CONSTANTLY SHOWING? That's impossible.

Right. I really like this genre, but I think I'm getting past enjoying manga and stuff again. I used to really love it as a kid and got sick of it when it became nothing but 10 year olds with J cups and tiny little kids who just destroyed all adults... but I found a few genres I liked. But Japan just can't stop itself from being completely stupid, can it?
All we need now is for America or China to show up and be UBER Powerful, and only Ren's students can barely stand up to them - losing until Ren comes and wipes all of them out easily while they insult him and call him a lame Japanese or some other stupid stereotype.

I can understand the team's skeptism.
I mean it is pretty hard to believe some random old dude beat something as insane as an SS rank monster. It's just too good to be true. They do also have the right to be cocky since they are a decorated team in this modern age of dugeoneering.

Im just saying, it's not purely out of place for the team to be skeptical as to much of comments on the recent chapter might say.

I get being skeptic but wouldn't just a sparring section work it out then? I know it's to keep the story going but still... it paints the other guys as some low-level people, in a way. Consider if the man is lying, he is weak etc and they go to an unexplored place. They find a big monster. So they'll let him die and that's it? They'd let the girls die?

I know they won't, at least the two women don't seem like they would, but it kinda opens up to these questions, you know?
