If I was writing, I'd have the gal get badly wounded and the two alliance bozos get iced cuz they get cocky. Force the main dude and his adopted niece to lean on each other, maybe grow, reveal more about their thoughts... Fckin anything.

The two alliance gits getting cut down would help raise the stakes beyond "ooo scary high level monster aaaaaand it's dead, lets go home." Show that people actually die there.

Might as well bail, there is no family members for there to be an incestuous relationship. She calls him uncle, but he was just friends with her perents.

I feel the same, except I also don't like the MC either.

He's a block of wood that's purposefully trying to be boring as a sort of facade, but the problem is there's nothing to suggest he isn't also boring behind that facade as well. This guy knows absolutely nothing about anything going on, in a way that feels less like he retired and more like he was in a coma for those ten years. He hasn't even developed any sort of fun hobby in all that free time, he said himself that he'll just zone the fuck out some days and do nothing.

And it's not like he's interested at all in how things work now, the only reason he's doing anything is that he's being dragged by the two girls which, as you said, are also plain as fuck. This just feels like a really stretched-out prologue where we're all just sitting here waiting for the story to start.

I mean that's depression for ya
