That's kind of the premise. At the start of the story Junna is the very anti-thesis of an idol, but Ayako saw the potential in her to be one of the best. We've already seen it when Junna got almost eliminated, that scheming and manipulating can tilt the scales, but it cannot replace genuine effort, skill and hard work.Great arc, and a great way to end it.
I hope the author lets Junna’s beautiful personality shine more after this. Her manipulative side is interesting, but the fact that she genuinely cares about others, even to the point of standing up to a critic, makes her a wonderful idol to root for.
