Saito even asks her directly "Did you fall in love with someone", which is pretty clearly "did you fall in love with someone else", and she blushes, not answering, which is basically a yes. She, essentially, told the man she loves to his face that she loves someone else. Before that he was willing to stop her. No wonder he basically said 'do what you want' she ripped his heart up in front of his face. Horrible.

And let me guess, this is going to be portrayed as all Saito's fault too? Goddamn it I defended this series, even through the Himari nonsense. Why do we have to play through these tired tropes?

I mean, I read the light novel. So, in that later saito feels that something is missing in his lifestyle now that akane is gone. Later, he even disguises himself to just see akane when he hears that she works at himari's cafe(himari offers it..i don't remember clearly)....vol. 8 of light novel in which it was shown...shows how saito realises his own feelings towards akane in the end(here,vol. 10 of manga)...later,we will get lot of internal monologue of what saito thinks,his reasoning to be alone and realisation..

Akane(she is frustrating but literally too selfless.....) did all this...maybe to give himari...her only best friend...a fair chance,and she didn't want to lose her only best friend(akane is too loyal for this friendship,while himari tries to seduce him..but it doesn't work)....later, it is shown how akane's absence makes a hole in saito's life...he went back to his primitive lifestyle(drinking only protein...and cup noodles)...with akane's presence,he became a human but without her,he was back to being a primitive creature. There will be some drama...but in the end...he will figure out his feelings for her...and actually calls her saying that he needs her

Be patient everyone...this manga needs a lot of patience to read...if you wait,it will bear some fruit atleast..

this whole series has been nothing but neither of them properly communicate and just assumes they know what the other is thinking/wants. to place it solely on Akane's shoulders is wrong.

Ok but there is a big difference between "both have made mistakes" and "they are equally at fault here". In this specific case is basically only on Akane

But, you know in the start...it is already clear who is he gonna marry.....so all that is left for the character progression of both main characters(with the help of other characters as a catalyst)....how feelings will develop rather than who will he end up..(especially when there is a story involving a tsundere main female character
