Both were at fault at this situation....though yes....if in previous volumes...if akane was struggling and later realized her feelings....same should be shown for him too....one think I like is it comes full circle...it happens for both of them....(I also read the light novel btw)......in that way..this step taken by akane would prove (had proven) beneficial because saito realized his feelings
