Hey guys, that whole "read ahead on our site" thing is going to get your group banned from Mangadex. Breaks the site ToS (5.2.22 iirc) to withhold chapters like that, if you're posting a series here you've gotta post the full thing you've TL'd, or else it's a group ban and all your chapters get removed.

MD's meant to be a place for folks to read manga, not a means to drive traffic to other websites.

At least MD should be grateful to scanlators uploading regularly. Only posting 1 chapter and no further updates is no go of course.

Pretty sure that only applies to paywalls, not to letting people read a chapter ahead on the scanlator's own site? Unless they changed it.

Infinite delay -> Group unlock + GL removal to avoid locking

Has "support us" links to third party monetisation websites (e.g., Ko-fi, Patreon, Buymeacoffee, etc.) but no paywall of any kind -> Mean stares but allowed.

In effect, you can't selectively withhold access to chapters for series you scanlate here. If you pick up a series, you make it available to everyone at the same time. No using Mangadex to bait people into paying for access or to visit your own site to try and get ad revenue off them.

Looks like they got hit with having the scan group's upload permissions forcibly unlocked and group leader role removed, so anyone can grab the chapters off their site and upload them here without falling afoul of site rules (provided they're still credited appropriately).

Not quite the usual worst case of total removal and group ban, but they were warned. Now their site exclusivity plan is pointless.

Do you know how disappointing it is to think you had caught up to the translations only to be told to go to some other site to read the next 6 chapters? I appreciate the work on the TLs but I just do not understand manga exclusivity for the life of me.. surely now that its been a while you can just upload those chapters on here too..

Apparently they got banned for trying to drive any traffic at all to their site and got banned for it, so they can't even upload them here themselves now. shrug

Personally I think MangaDex needs all the groups it can to stay unbanned, 80% of my reading list is no longer uploaded here for one reason or another and at the rate they're going with the amount of rules they're enforcing, that's slowly turning into 100%.

The group's not banned. They just have no group leader role and the group uploads are unlocked. Any of the 9 people in the group can upload the missing chapters, as could anyone else on the site (provided they attribute it to the group correctly).

The whole idea is that as punishment for arbitrarily withholding chapters, they lose the ability to stop anyone from uploading their work here.
