This is it for me. So many of the series in my feed got nuked, that this site is barely useful anymore as a singular home for reading manga.

I was only staying because of the forum threads on the chapters, but even those seem to be a target for annihilation for the admins of MangaDex.

Time to export my whole library (3.5K+ titles) and move my tracking somewhere else. Probably completely offline, to be honest. I've been dreading it since I have too many series I'm following, but at this point staying on MangaDex does more harm than good.

Outlinks to official services are being gradually added (in this case to Kodansha's KMANGA website) so users have more options to read and support authors while doing so.
The new additions are KMANGA, Comikey, Omoi/Azuki and Manga UP! Global
I suggest removing Manga Up! global since to read chapters past the first one, you need an account and to create an account you need to download their mobile app and create one there before they allow you to sign in via browser. https://global.manga-up.com/login

More official links is generally a good thing. Adding a bot to streamline updates is also a good thing:chad:

...but

Flooding the updates feed is always a bad user experience and ultimately counterproductive. Users get pissed and block the officials, other users stop using the website at least temporarily to avoid the flood, and every single series (official or not) posting an update runs a high risk of not being seen. And thus the website is worse off because it's now less reliable and far fewer people will see the officials.

This exact situation has cropped up many times before so now it feels like a deliberate choice by MD to roll out the initial wave of updates in the worst way possible. I'm not saying it is deliberate, but a mea culpa isn't exactly going to feel genuine either.

Edit: or least add a big ol prominent ahemnotice letting folks know why things are and an ETA...

Imagine being such a deluded website that you think posting "official" publisher links is something that the people using want, people that find their reading material on the internet everyday... Especially trash sites that is inaccessible to 99% of the world.

Dear Mangadex,
if you want to work for "official" publishers so badly, I recommend actually sending your job application to them.
It is more effective than spamming links nobody wants.

reading chapters for free. being annoyed when official publisher request links to the official website. i don't get you, if you just want to pirate series, just find another plattform. while many publishers take the big chunk of the money they make, it will at least generate some revenue for the authors and artists. if you don't like that, either buy the series when they release locally for you, move to another plattform, or simply stay quiet and accept the situation.

it's in their rights as publisher to do this, mangadex simply complies. otherwise, they'd kill this plattform quickly, again.

It's because whenever these links are added your feed is spammed with these "official" links which they don't even upload the entire series up to the point where MangaDex purged everything. A dead series that was last updated 2 years ago reappeared on my feed now and saw that over 100 chapters were purged only for chapter 1 to be "reuploaded" from the official one.

Yea ok, I now know it has an official place I can read it again, sure. But I don't want my feed to be spammed by these reuploads.

Also, no series gets released locally for me. Absolutely nothing. Why do you think many of us read them from scan groups?
