The official publishers aren't asking for this. It's the MD staff doing it on their own initiative.

I can understand that Mangadex is doing this to force people to make accounts so they are able to block the official publishers, pretty similar to their max reading 10 chapters a day. I guess they want to increase user count to sell the site or something. But isn't this just going to turn people away in general? I don't think it's about the rules. If you block them, they stop showing up in the latest updates, so blocking all the publishers the update bot is spamming can make the site a bit more usable while we wait for the bot to stop freaking out.

Yeah im not sure why mangaplus is spamming chapters because only the first 3 are available for free, but if youre paying for mangaplus, youre probably not checking for new chapters on mangadex, I dont get it

From what I see, it's multiple crawlers/bots that mangadex devs made to automatically grab the links of available chapters from the official publishers (like how each manga has a link to the official raw/official english sites). Sometimes mangaplus do promotions where they'll offer more chapters or an entire series for free for a limited time - these bots are probably trying to capture those as well. Looks like they have deployed them with bugs/user experience problems that they need to work through though

I have a better suggestion. Remove the shill links entirely. Don't know if mangadex gets some kind of commission, but these links are only harming the long term livelihood of mangadex by driving it's fed up users towards 3rd party aggregator sites.

And well, thankfully at the current rate, the ETA for all the outlinks to be added is September 25 instead of 2030 like the initial ETA (will definitely need slightly more time as more chapters get fetched from the official publisher platforms)

The publisher pages say this is not their doing but happenes on your initiative .

In a lot of cases these greedy [redacted] split one chapter into three parts to make more money on their websites.
This transfers now to MD where the chapters usually have not been split.
I checked on some titles an there is chaos. Like in happy sugar life.
The added links are completely misplaced.

...pretty sure both the database and the dev team would catch fire if that was attempted. Along with the wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The reason Barto set a bot to do it every minute or so is not known (well, I know he likes to automatise things, but that's beside the point), but if they dumped those five digit chapter links all at once anyone would have 100 pages of useless latest updates. I know they want to have as much as they can, but doing this kind of "analogue" changes eight years late (same for romanisation stuff, for one) would mean death in any serious business.
