Piston's ability reveal was offscreen as well(chp. 22) and it took 16 chapters later for the audience to know his ability. Kate's ability reveal can wait until the time is right.

nah, sometimes it's more fun to keep a secret for a later reveal. like, if a plan is laid out in its entirety before being executed, watching that plan go through will be boring because you've already spent all that time knowing what's going to happen. something has to happen to divert from the plan. we aren't going to learn kate's ability until hiroto needs to use it.

I think this is definitely true to an extent but I do still think Hiroto and the fox guy have a high possibility of being special cases.

Though pushing the agenda that men are born weaker would definitely make sense as propaganda meant to keep male researchers and any man in that certain field alive while still pushing the idea of a female dominate society.

However, I’m starting to wonder if perhaps Hiroto and the fox guy aren’t completely special cases but rather people who completed specific requirements and got those powers as a result. Right now for Hiroto all we know is there’s an implication that the Hiroto we’re seeing and the one his sister remembers aren’t the same, so I’m thinking that perhaps there are abilities within men that are strong but have requirements to be able to tap into compared to women where they usually gain them upon birth. Just a theory though.
