Okay seriously, this is out of hand at this point. I know they're the "Official release" and all that, and I get the idea behind funneling people to series official source rather than the possible shitty fan translations that may exist, but at this point it's harming the site and the community more than not. I have a few manga that I have 100% completed, and I have moved to my "Completed" section, and yet I am STILL getting notifications when these stupid split chapter links get posted. I have the group blocked, but because I have the series in my list in any way it STILL shows up!

Let's not forget the biggest issue here isn't that it's linking somewhere around 200-300 chapters within a couple of hours time, it's not even linking FULL CHAPTERS! It's linking chapters that are split heavily! Good example would be "Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko". Going on it's page right now (While typing this mind you), it has 208 chapters listed, all of which are links off site. Now the actual chapter count when you add up all the splits into single chapters? Only 66... With the exception of chapter 1, EVERY chapter is split into 4 parts, all of which require an account on the Manga Up app, and require individual purchases/tickets to read. If you want to read 1 chapter you have to effectively buy it 4 times!

I get that this is the "official source" and all that, and there's not really any point in complaining about their practices in splitting chapters like that on their own site/app. But what is the point of having a bot effectively act like a scrapper but for links, and spam 208 chapters of a series that only has 66 actual chapters? Not to mention that if I block Manga Up again and show unavailable chapters, there was a group that had already done up to chapter 53 over 2 years ago at this point (I can't speak for quality of the chapters mind you, it's not like we can load them anyway since they're "unavailable").

Mangadex used to be all about making sure everyone got to read quality manga for free, the current rules even prohibit scan groups from charging money for chapters. But what is the point of these rules if the staff themselves are going off of a double standard and supporting far worse than a chapter being paid, but a chapter requiring 4x the price just to read the whole thing.

There is already a link at the top of a manga's page for both the official raw and official English if one exists for them, we do NOT need to be spammed by a bot of the staff's design for every single part of every single chapter that has an official English source. If you're going to prevent scan groups from uploading series with an official source, then just don't even link the chapters. Just indicate the official source is the only location to read it in English and be done with it.

Seconded. It is essentially a group spam-posting lower quality chapters, in the sense that having to go through a bunch of hoops leads to a worse reading quality. Maybe having "official release" links is necessary to keep the peace(?), but at least an option to properly block groups would be nice.

Weird logical gymnastics aside, is there an issue with the option to block groups that you already have? It makes the chapters from those groups not show up anymore, like one would expect.

it is possible to block the groups the "official publisher" points at. I have read it's also one user uploading this. Quoted from another thread
seems that all chapters are posted from the account NotXunder, should be enough to block him instead of groups one by one

im fed up with these "Official Publisher" bots. its not even a new translation on more than 90% of them its just the same fan translation scraped from here and reposted. they have the same TN notes and some even still have the fan group pages in them. most of my updates just got flooded with them.

Something I feel like a lot of people aren't understanding about this, is that it's NOT the request of the publishers, and it's NOT multiple bots. It's one bot that the MD staff have going of their own accord without being asked to. If this were any other site, people would begin this is sabotage from someone with malicious intent. I genuinely don't know of any users that actually WANT this.
