This might be a hot take, but I think it's because neither main character is particularly interesting. Her backstory was compelling, but she's just a near-omnipotent blank slate as a result, and there's not really anything remarkable about him.

This might be a hot take, but I think it's because neither main character is particularly interesting. Her backstory was compelling, but she's just a near-omnipotent blank slate as a result, and there's not really anything remarkable about him.

Maybe that's it. I've had bland protagonists before, but a bland main pair is a problem.

He's just Puppy Guy and she's not showing anything actually engaging as a person yet.

Maybe it's also how we're 4 chapters in and neither have the proper slice-of-life setup nor an actual plot.

Yeah I get that is the reason, but I get annoyed because he sees that she has super human abilities and durability. And still goes "Oh no the absolute TANK of a woman needs help from Me the man who has the arm strength of a dry leaf in late fall."
