So, why do I feel jealous of gay relationships when I’m a straight woman

Well, from a purely biological perspective, a gay couple means two less available mates for you without them taking any of your competition out of the game.
Meanwhile a Lesbian couple would take out two competitors without removing any potential mate.
Vice Versa for the men.
The ideal evolutionary strategy would be to encourage homosexuality among your own gender while discouraging it among the other gender.
The irony be that Yuri is enjoyed by heterosexual men and Yaoi by heterosexual women in reality, so the purely biological model is unlikely to play an actual role :D
Mf talked about biological perspectives then immediately after was like "but actually it's probably bullshit" that's fuckin peak dawg

it's true. in the U.S. around ~70% are initiated by women. and, in marriages where the woman has a college degree, that number climbs to 90%. the reason is [solely because men aren't good enough partners]

Tik tok seems to be the source of these numbers.

Here's the paper with a grand sample size of 92 :S It even says it on the paper that those numbers are hallucinated.
https://web.stanford.edu/~mrosenfe/Rosenfeld_Who_wants_the_Breakup.pdf
My lazy chatgpt info usage has told the figures 70% figures are from 1960 & have since dropped to 56% (2015) though yet again the sample size in 2015 study sample is 3000.
The fact of women initiating divorce more is true though. And there is a large sample finnish study about women in a same sex relationship having 40% divorce rate compared to men in same sex 27%. With straight couples having about 21%.

Tik tok is the source of everything nowadays, didn't you know that? Since they never offer references I simply mock them.

Table 1 and Figure 1 show the percentage of heterosexual couple breakups in HCMST
waves 2-5 whose breakup was wanted more by the woman. If the woman wanted the breakup
more, that is scored as “1”; if the man wanted the breakup more, that is scored as “0”; and if both
partners wanted the breakup equally, that is scored as “0.5.” Table 1 shows that women
accounted for 69% of the breakups of heterosexual marriages, consistent with the approximately
two thirds of divorces wanted by wives reported in other studies (England and Kilbourne 1990;
Sayer et al. 2011; Sweeney 2002; Heaton and Blake 1999). Even though only 92 breakups of
heterosexual marriages were recorded in the data, the 69% of marital breakups wanted by
women is significantly different from 50%, with a 95% confidence interval ranging from 61% to

78%.6

For heterosexual cohabiters, Table 1 shows 76 breakups were recorded, and of these

breakups 56% were wanted by the woman. The 95% confidence interval for the gender of who
wanted breakup among nonmarital heterosexual unions was 47% to 65%, which includes 50%,
meaning that the gender of breakup for nonmarital heterosexual couples was not significantly
different from 50%. Cohabitation proved to have no effect on the gender of breakup for
nonmarital couples. Among the noncohabiting nonmarital unions, 53.4% of the breakups were
wanted by the woman, which was not significantly different from the 50% gender parity level
and also not significantly different from the 56% rate of female wanted breakups recorded

among the cohabiting couples.

:questionblob: we're talking about divorces. the 56% figure is for cohabitating unmarried couples, and it even confirms that for married couples it's 69%. i think you were looking at the graph on page 38 (which shows marriage prevalence by year, not divorce statistics)

you're correct that the 90% college-educated figure is wrong/unsupported though, so that was my mistake

I am referencing multiple different studies there that i didn't source/explain for the sake of brevity(laziness). Here is a pretty comprehensive one.

that study measures who was the legal plaintiff, not who initiated/wanted the divorce, where the 69%-70% still stands. as in, if a husband and wife divorced because the wife wanted it, yet after the informal agreement the husband was the one who legally filed for divorce, it would falsely be cited as 'the husband wanting/initiating the divorce', which would not actually be the case.
