What you're describing is the liberal turn of the last few decades: Putting bullshit jobs and worthless diplomas obtained after years of very expensive education on a pedestal while demeaning more practical hand-on work, making women compete with men for the aforementioned bullshit jobs, all the while not doing a thing to try and change society's expectations of men as primary providers in a relationship.
