Man, I was all happy to see Fran getting a hobby and Jet being the goodest boy, then likable catgirl onee-san gets murdered.

There's reason why collective punishment is seen as a war crime and rather frowned upon.
but the gods don't really care. Support to the Evil God is a line that demands serious punishment. Of course, some realize the Black Cats must have a chance to atone and be good again. So at least one will support Fran and Teacher.

I mean the difference is the all of them were taking part in the potential apocalypse which is why all of them were punished.

Also keep in mind that the only thing the Kamis did was take away their ability to evolve which they only had in the first place because of the Kamis and they set up a trial that would allow them to gain back their ability if they did an achievement on par with their crime. Everything else was because of the blue and red cats they were discriminating against took revenge. If anything the Kamis were quite kind in their punishment.

That was unexpected, I was expecting some sort of betrayal in the near future, while hoping for the best, not her getting offed right after the second time they met.

Farewell Blackcatty :meguuusad:

Fran is probably going to earn an infamous title when she finds out what happened, like „Butcher of the Grey Dungeon“

Edit: After rereading the last few pages, after writing the comment. We don’t actually see her drop dead, just pretty badly stabbed through the chest, the leader was just about to use the feather to escape the dungeon with his team. I will cling to the hope that it turns out well, healing magic does exists in this world after all.

Noooo… tho we all saw that coming

Also I feel Ninja is commonly the advanced class of scout or one of the upgrade paths in this kind of fantasy setup so makes sense
In the Japanese Tabletop RPG "Sword World" the Rogue/Thief class is called a "Scout". That's what I think they're referencing here

It's literally the original sin, but slightly less despicable of a story, then.

Those born after the shitshow were innocent of any wrong-doing, yet still penalised.
Those born before were failed by gods in their duty of idiotproofing reality.

In the novels you learn that the kamis of the world don’t really interact with it or can’t interact with it much as there are restrictions. If someone does stuff that will destroy the planet sure they will act but for the most part they leave everyone alone and their only interactions are blessings. So even if they wanted to do something to stop what was happening it’s not like they had the ability to do so.

The novel gets it across just how badly the black cats fucked up back then and makes it quite clear that they were in the wrong back then and that the punishment was super warranted.

Also I’d argue that what the black cats did was worse then Yahweh getting pissy that his robots didn’t do what he told them to do and he punished everyone because he threw a tantrum

Oh, that's rather weird. And sort of convenient, that these gods can't Aslan around as they wish

Sure, but these after them are still punished for crimes they had no part in whatsoever.

I meant that the ban on evolution is less reprehensible than yhwhs hissy fit / honeypot in the garden.

I mean you ain’t necessarily wrong about the people hundreds of years later.

However I’d like to reiterate that they were given 2 ways to undo their punishment that were feasible at the time. However not even the gods could have foreseen what would happen to them after the punishment was enacted and I don’t believe punishments can be cancelled even by the kamis if the trial isn’t completed by the punished.

There’s another group in the series that was also punished for a similar crime ftr however I’m not gonna spoil it cause it’s like 12 volumes from where we are at in the manga.

Lastly, don’t forget to watch season 2 of Tensei sword which comes out next month on hidive. Be there or be square
