Ah, Ryo is a gem. She should be paid for the double duty she's pulling to push our dense MC forward. Sometimes you need someone who likes you a little less and is willing to point out the obvious no one else is. Especially if it's a major flaw that's preventing you from moving forward. Being so scared of ruffling feathers that you intentionally hold yourself back isn't good either. I mean heck, that's how you get incels. People who suppress all their urges and start letting them out in the most unhealthy ways that harm others when it gets to be too much. They're not exactly  wrong unfortunately. Been plenty of stories where a woman makes something up about a guy and everyone immediately assumes he's guilty. Hell, there was one where a guy got sent to prison for, like, a decade or so because a girl falsely accused him of SA until eventually, I believe she finally admitted she made it up.

I've also seen videos where a girl can be harassing a guy repeatedly, even smacking him, and when he finally smacked her back, she drops to the ground, crying, and suddenly the guy gets swarmed by a bunch of other guys

I kinda get him though, when you're a teen who's been a social recluse for most of your life being exposed to this whole new group of people who actually care about you and think of you as a friend will probably make alter your mindset in someway. So I think it's pretty reasonable he's unnecessarily walking around eggshells because he's scared of something changing.

Honestly this chapter really brushes up against so many things that it's like hitting the tip of the ice berg... And it does give Seo so much more depth cause goddamn do I get it.

Otaku being on the subcultural end where it can be frowned upon, especially if it's more on the degenerate side. The background in itself of how maleness can be seen in a toxic & harmful way, and that making you conscious of how you can view yourself around others; To not be the creep, basically. And I'd imagine Seo is too conscious of that connotation to realize that he isn't the stereotype. And what he does need then, which is what the chapter gives him, is a reality check that the people around him don't see him in that kind of light, and that they see him for who he is. He's valid to them, and for anyone who sees him at a glance as harmful is getting a forehead flick. The manga has done the work to lead up to saying that— he really is a standup guy.
