Is this guy dumb? She’s made it very clear back then in front of the exorcists that she only cared about people close to her. Can’t be minding every stranger lives.

Good chapter, didn't expect we would go over how badly the situation got under Yayoi's strategy. The exorcist boy wasn't wrong with what he said, I guess he might join in for the next few hunts?
He did realize he was partially wrong, he didnt know about the substitutes so didnt realise Yayoi didnt need help resealing him

Considering how timid gongen was i dont think he intended to make a serious escape attempt

Yayoi really needs to learn and listen to people who know more than her. She has been this very arrogant child since the beginning and this will just lead to Keitaro and others getting hurt without reversal. The new guy was 100% right!

Wym half unsealed?? Gongen can do that much even when he wasn't fully unsealed??
He managed to kill a god before while under massive debuff by Sergeant and Oiran to limit his strenght, it was pretty baffling how Yayoi could walk around with him unsealed.

She mentions in the chapter she recovered him that his aggression was something she intentionally trained and went too far with

The miko was also the first ghost with a playful side. Swapping or hiding tanden instead of consuming them were irrational and tactically unsound moves, but wound up wrecking Yayoi's hyper logical defense-centered strategies.
Bunrei Taisei had a playful side, until he got serious and began to pick her forces off starting with the most dangerous to him. Lets call it what it is. D temple was a giant troll who loves to fuck with her prey. She went after Keitaro, used him as bait to get Yayoi to take her to Ai and Eiko and picked them off leaving Yayoi for last. Great Strategy, but she should of removed her tanden when she had the chance.

She's a traumatised nine years old girl and the last arcs really wanted to remind the audience that.

Ya, I gotta keep in mind she essentially got Batman'd and ended up making a promise on her parents grave like he did, while developing a similarly dangerous obsession of imposing her will upon dangerous scum with violence.

I agree with your characterization of the Miko, but not that Bunrei Taisei is strategically playful. There's a big difference between handicapping in a chess match by removing a rook from the board and using the objectively flawed but visually flashy '18th Century romantic style'. Handicaps serve to make a game between stronger and weaker players fair - or at least challenging for both sides. '18th Century romantic style' is used by knuckleheads willing to risk losing a game for the chance to pull off a cool move.

I saw it as Yayoi desperately trying to salvage some dignity by showing she wasn't COMPLETELY unprepared. She probably fooled the barrier guy into trusting her as a strategist bt doing so, but if simple metal katashiro could make someone invincible from physical attacks by ghosts, spiritualists would have been using them for centuries. Gongen would have cut through it in a few swings, left her dead, and wind up even stronger from being left in a power spot.

He does not ask her for protection, he says he was mainly sent to keep Yayoi's antics from causing civilian casualties

a few more swings is all she needs to pull the cord, and you forget the more strength he has to put into it the more damage he himself takes

all she needs is a few seconds to get him back in the bag and she did have enough preparations to get those seconds especially since we saw that Gongen was too timid to commit to a full assault on her

There was a non zero chance, assuming Gonzen could not bypass the katashiro as he has previously done, cannot cut through metal easily, would not switch to some form of armor-negating melee technique, chop up the plastic bag around the salt to break his seal, etc. He effortlessly dealt with countless katashiro in the past and would disregard any pain caused by them. The weakening mechanism Yayoi was negated by Gonzen, and would only apply to the difficultly of cutting any given katashiro (breaking one makes it no longer count as a substitute body). Again, nonzero of her buying enough time, but a dude whose retirement plan is spending every spare dollar he earns on gacha games and then finding enough pennies in his couch for a lotto ticket isn't someone you'd go to for financial advice.

I say playful for bunrei Yin Jiao because he could of just went all out from the very start and simply killed Yayoi, not to mention he has Foresight. Could likely have seen the use of the Ring of Marbas and stopped it from ever happening, by once more just killing her when she stepped into the hospital room. Now we really see him get serious when he starts systemically taking out some of her forces starting from the most troublesome. Then he has 5 Element Cycle in his backpocket to power him back up for round 2 which lead to him nearly wiping everyone else out with his energy attack he launched after. Even with the main body restoring him back to 100% for round 3, the offshoot tells main body Taisei off. And with him leaving the bunrei to his own devices, he tells Yayoi now they can have some fun without Main's uncalled for meddling. The offshoot's flaw is he just wants and lives for getting into an exciting battle, rather than being pragmatic and just ending any potential threat to him from jump street. Which once more Yayoi states was one of the key reasons she won the battle.
