What was wrong with how the main story ended? I do suppose romcoms have sappy endings that can be a bit corny, but I personally didn’t mind how it ended. It felt natural. Is it because the ending didn’t show their future? That can be amended with volume extras or an extra release. Regardless, this series is far different tonally and setting wise, so it’ll have its own ending that should decently different. After how the main story ended, I'm keeping my expectations down for this one.
If you like generic by the books graduation endings I have seen a thousand times before, sure. What was wrong with how the main story ended? the story kinda spluttered along in the final third and then had a generic graduation ending, as though the author got bored. the only plot thread kept alive in the end was ichikawa's entrance exams. and that was well done. but yamada's career, the struggle with the idiotic idolization by fans and the resulting extra need to hide their relationship went missing. even the threads that were touched upon were underserved, like ichikawa's relations with his male peers or the romance between anna and kyoutaro. they were there, but kinda treated with a "that'll do" attitude. What was wrong with how the main story ended? All of those plot threads you mentioned got resolved. Yamada's career; she decided to continue it. Hiding their relationship; Kyotaro decided to step up on stage and just show it to everyone at the end the story even if the plot averted it to everyone but Kobayashi. So everyone who matters to them knows. A flash forward to being married with kids would be just as generic. It was a story about middle school romance and ended as a story about middle school romance. I'm not saying you have to like it but it wrapped itself up with a nice little bow.the story kinda spluttered along in the final third and then had a generic graduation ending, as though the author got bored. the only plot thread kept alive in the end was ichikawa's entrance exams. and that was well done. but yamada's career, the struggle with the idiotic idolization by fans and the resulting extra need to hide their relationship went missing. even the threads that were touched upon were underserved, like ichikawa's relations with his male peers or the romance between anna and kyoutaro. they were there, but kinda treated with a "that'll do" attitude.
the buildup and the high of the middle section were of incredible quality, something the ending just didn't match, leaving me personally, at least, dissatisfied

I don't think the ending was terrible and didnt ruin the manga or make me regret reading it, but the first two thirds of the Manga were so great and the ending - honestly the whole final arc - did not do them justice. Like you could stop reading after the club performance and lose almost nothing. All of those plot threads you mentioned got resolved. Yamada's career; she decided to continue it. cant end worse than that lolAfter how the main story ended, I'm keeping my expectations down for this one.
That's not what they said. They said, "we didn't get those lose plot threads resolved," when we did. Most of those issues would be ongoing issues unless the story would have Anna just give up on her career which she clearly didn't. The answers is how they would handle it and you got that answer. And honestly I think the back end is just as good as the first. You have Kyou dealing with Anna's life and in the end you have it the other way around. You are correct we got things like "Ichi going up on stage to shows he's stopped being an lone-wolf edge lord and you can infer further progress from that" and "They decided to keep dating so we can assume they just keep everything d/l and avoid public attention", but that doesn't invalidate @Izzmo saying we got the bare-minimum - because that is what we got.
Sure it can.cant end worse than that lol
Its more just that. There are serious un-addressed issues we never got actual closure on, just a "lol idk they'll figure it out. later."That's not what they said. I feel like people hyping up how good the 2/3 was would be the same people who complain about rom-coms ending when two characters get together because no matter when that ending is, its just a bunch of goal post moving on what someone thinks ending relationship goals should be. And if its not married with kids, to most people it might as well not have not wasted their time.
How are they not addressed? Is it because the story didn't put a big PIN in it and go, "now the problem is resolved."? If Anna continues to be a performer that's the answer to that question. If Kyou gets up on stage to console Anna in front of everyone, even if most people don't see it, That's the answer to dealing with her status as an public actress. If Kobayashi is the only one to actually see what happened on stage; That's the answer to all of the people that care about them knowing the truth about their relationship. You can want more and not like how it happened but nothing was left alone. Its more just that. There are serious un-addressed issues we never got actual closure on, just a "lol idk they'll figure it out. later."
