Yeah, it feels really tropey. I think every shonen reader has had enough of these quirky villain groups since like 10 years ago. Maybe he'll kill em all off in one scene like he did that masked dude's team to make it less predictable? Would be a neat way to show just how much stronger the blades are than regular sorcery. The worst option IMO would be having them fight blade users 1 on 1 and making it a whole arc.

On another note, I feel like he should have shown Japan refusing the demands on the island. Bet there was a fight. Although I'll forgive him if he off-screens the Soga leader in that fight.

I thought based on how long it took for them to introduce the Cloud Gorger user for ONE potential contract bearer, they were going to drag this out for a whole year to locate the rest of the 7 or whatever. But at least that's skipped so if there's going to be a 1v1 battle they'll have to be all revealed/introduced that way?

Yeah, that they didn't go down that painfully predictable route gives me hope. No one benefits from being able to guess the plot of the next 50 chapters.

Probably but I really hope not. Bleach in its later arcs got so stale when you knew every arc was gonna be a bunch of one on ones. One piece for instance handles that with much more variety and is better for it.
