Not to excuse this church's behavior. It's pretty standard practice to brand the rival's religion "evil". Similar to how the church here brand certain group of people "pagan" when they wanted to spread their influences. This also how a fertility god, Baal, became associated with Beelzebub, the devil in Christianity.

It seems that the MC wasn't the only one with this god's crest. There will be flashback scenes that showed multiple children were dump on this island before now.

That's a rather extravagant execution method. A ship of that size must have significant running costs for exiling a single person. Then again, the island could have some religious significance or something.

Well.... For a priest father, not figuring out that his son has the mark of an "evil god", he is quite useless. And I know that MC wanted to keep it a secret, but he could have just looked up the name of the god in the study or any library and figure stuff out before hand. And I agree with him, its quite the development.

Wasn't his sister power some kind of knowledge thing? I mean she told him the gods name after all. Seems kinda lazy to give her that power but then conveniently it didn't show any details like the gods origin or anything like that, nor did they explain how exactly she sees the info either for us to make any predictions or have any thoughts on it really. Not a great start to the story in my opinion, pretty big plot hole right out the gate.
