By killing herself, she erased all the possible leads on the information she held. That meant that daegaz would be paralyzed with indecision, thinking that someone else already had the information and would start acting on them.

It took a few years to verify that nobody was coming, but they couldn't prove that it was all a bluff. So anyone who DID come snooping Lily's clues would be considered dangerous enough to go loud, which creates openings that would not exist if they just didn't do anything.
