Power type and speed type... With power comes speed. Well, unless you do more of the strongman kind of strength, which is less about explosive movement and more about max load and endurance. But that's not what you develop as a warrior.

Suddenly just losing.

Seeing mc win a great fight and then be dead and kicked around in a single panel felt awful ngl
It's just weird pacing. It's like just "cut to him having lost and create some instant drama to fuel the next fight" with no effort. It's to the point I don't even care what she did because it's about as genuine as backyard "pro" wrestling trash talk.

by now i expect 80% of author had no idea to make a good story, just "good enough" is not even possible. most of them goes downhill, with these reasons :

stretch the chapter for no reason
MC suddenly LOST in the next panel
or the story takes major shift, in a bad way

So... How did he lose lol? After a fight like that the author just makes him loose off screen, that's just dumb lmao. Don't tell me this all just for Sati to get mad and get a power up. If so, cliche and poor writing af

And I had such high hopes for this manga at the beginning.

This was predictable after the author went so far as to greenlight turning Angela into one of the Loli Brigade. Predictable indeed: most JP authors, apparently, believe strongly that holding back in a high-stakes physical conflict--especially ones in which one can easily believe wagers the lives of the combatants--isn't a solid way to end up either crippled or dead. It's done especially badly here, in a way that's nevertheless common: if Masaru was actually strong enough to dismiss that fight as one he doesn't need to take seriously, he shouldn't have been taking any serious damage.

In addition, most JP authors believe just as strongly that muscular development has value inversely proportional to the degree of that development in comparison to a character--usually an MC--devoid of such muscular development. The moment their swords broke, I knew immediately that Masaru would win. Why? Because he's smaller. No other reason.

But hey--at least there are flatchests, right? Four of them, now? Five of them? Whatever. Speaking of, place your bets on the fight with Francesca. (And Ms. Beastfolk was getting salty over the truth: Masaru IS weak, narrative contrivances such as "blessings" aside.)

Mostly agreed, JP authors compared to Korean or even Chinese are becoming more and more foreign to me. Either i became much older and can't accept their mentality or JP authors are getting worser and worser (I think they becoming worser). I started to read/watch JP content 16y ago. Started to dislike typical harem series about 10y ago. This one was that typical one but had some major frustrating point taken out of equation i.e. Indecisive MC towards harem members (i dislike this type of fetish where before they kiss someone enters the room, seen it over 1000 times literally).

But despite that everything else that comes with your typical harem rom-com is here, I know these Isekai mangas typically portray "losers" of Japan in order to ponder to their main audience i.e. losers and outcasts (during school years). But sometimes you read some great mangas, novels, light novels and then you step to this shit.
In any case Masaru is weak, personality wise, while his cheat skills make him strong, this stupid move to make his opponent stomp on him is a bad move from the authors, what about other people who he defeated who were so called "S" rankers?
The worst part this edgy Francesca will potentially become a new harem member.

Before chapter 31 (3 years ago) I rated it 5/5 in my library, now it is 3.5/5, It had hope to diverge from your typical stupidity yet it followed through even more strongly after that. They only difference between any other carbon copy of Action/Fantasy/Harem is that harem members are actually wifes and had crossed the line of "holding hands".

What I utterly dislike though these types of mangas portray japanese people in a very bad light, if my only source of information were harem type isekai mangas I would despise and disrespect anything japanese. These type of MC's are NTR fetish MC's, you simply want to take their girls and do the deed while he watches. They are so "good" and "selfless" that it makes me wanna puke, simply because those points are surface level goodness and selflessness. If you dive deeper in philosophy and psyche these types of MC's are the very people who let the evil run rampant in our and fictional world.
These types of mangas are literally made for hikikomoris and outcasts who are weak and in their head they have this running thought : I'm a good and kind person, so why am I rejected by the world, it's not fair. The worst part they unrealistically portray how these "females" are attracted to them. He showed "goodness and kindness" next moment she is head over heels in love with him. Women like kind men, but they like when this kindness is directed towards them and is not shared with everyone as a hot item on a sale.
P.S. Sorry for the long rant, but I always get frustrated when something with potential flops very hard, I thought it will jump a little bit higher than other fantasy/harems only to see it fall in line with others even more strongly than many others. Chinese are much better at harems, MC's are most of the time are overly arrogant but at least they have a thing called self respect which japanese MC's in most fantasy/harem(basically in all harems) types lack.

No need for apologies whatsoever. I'm actually happy to see someone that doesn't think thoughts that need more than five words to express are instances of "thinking too deeply" or the like. It's no wonder things are going downhill across the board: even in their entertainment, no one's willing to properly think about what it is they're actually looking at--not unless it's to keep themselves in their benighted state or for some other self-detrimental reason.

That said, I agree. The writing of anime/manga has been in decline for more than a decade, now--and it's only been enabled and perpetuated by the cookie-cutter/mass-production approach to storycrafting you've seen in all these stories: no one's interested in writing their own story, apparently, but instead in writing a story that appeals to "everyone"...or a specific kind of person. That, or to push a certain idea or mentality, which has definitely been happening over the past decade. Postmodernism plays a major role in this, in that established perspectives are being bucked hard for anything that contradicts those perspectives and is inherently destructive: male leads aren't supposed to be masculine or respectable, but feminine and contemptible; female leads aren't supposed to be pretty or femininely charming, but possessed of traits naturally unattractive to healthy males and more masculinity than their male counterparts; villains aren't supposed to be repulsive--you're supposed to relate with them instead. So on, and so forth. All of it's clearly done to psychologically alter its audience, and it's working well--Japan's birth rates are in the gutter, and I'm sure that giving their young men effeminate pansies to look up to and romance with bland or even androgynous, divorce-hungry Modern Wymyn™ to look forward to is doing a bang-up job of fixing that crisis.

I could go on, but games call me.

Funny thing i actually despite knowing destructive nature of post-modernism never thought that it's tentacles reached the anime industry. I thought it was inherently our "western" self destructive mechanism.
But yeah what you are saying holds truth. Chinese never actually truly embraced our wave, koreans while embracing are a little bit unique due to various factors i.e. constant threat of North Korea (maybe). And Japan? Yeah they embraced it, while maintaining their own self destructive nature they also applied ours. Japan with their toxic work-life culture and hierarchy was already a major factor in birth decline, now we add our mix with emasculation and gender reversing (not the trans thing but role reversal which is counter to our hormonal psyche).

But if talk about main subtopic about decline, this manga is the face of current japanese mangaka decline, isekai is like porn for those who didn't achieve, I also sometimes partake in it but there is a large gap between western underachievers and eastern (specifically japanese). Their fantasy porn is like a foreign object that is stuck in our minds. A man in japanese isekai or harem genre is the truest simp, soy-boy or simply a doormat.
This doormat-kun as I presume is an average manga consumer, sadly authors instead of correcting this behaviour at least slightly they ponder to those people as if saying "Everything is alright, you are on the right path" just like + size movement who don't discourage or warn about complications they encourage it. Despite japanese society already (prior to post-modern) cultivated yes men and hierarchy followers (those who will never oppose higher power even IF THEY KNOW 100% superior is wrong).

Wait, what the fuck? It looks like Masaru had to fight another opponent mere minutes or maybe an hour after his last fight? Against someone that was fresh and didn't just have a fight?

What bullshit tournament is this? It's well-established in this series that magicians take time to get back their mana. Making him fight that soon after such a big fight is complete bullshit.

well, tournament arcs have always been cringe :haa:

Seriously, I'm getting tired of seeing them. Because they usually take up so many chapters and, frankly, it's usually pretty boring and cookiecutter-esque. When you just do the same tournament copy and pasted a thousand times it gets old.

If it didn't usually take half a dozen or more chapters, I'd be more forgiving of them. But at this point I would rather just have DUELS where the fights last 1-2 or maybe 3 at most chapters and be done with them. It's a competition, but it's dragged out like this shit.

It WAS her match. That's why the ref called her the winner, my dude.

The author/mangaka was just THAT RETARDED to have Masaru have a match with a completely new opponent that wasn't tired mere minutes after his previous match. It's just shit cliched writing.

Whoa, whoa. Hey there, buddy. Just because the story is garbage doesn't mean we have to shit on the DFCs.

Honestly the fact that he wants a harem and it isn't just Big Titty Central is more refreshing to see than just having women with progressively larger tits to the point that they look comedically large.
