It was a rather conspicuous cut off but Kanefumi doesn't seem that much older/younger than Asahi and at worst they would just need to chill for a bit (Asahi and the gang are seniors are they not, I don't remember if it was ever established). It's a bit weird for a college aged kid to be dating a high school kid or a high school kid to be dating a middle school kid but if the gap is only like 1-2 years it wouldn't be that bad.

Also as far as we can tell currently there doesn't seem to be any sexual attraction (yet) and they are definitely hitting it off in a way that makes it seem like the usual "how the fuck can you date someone younger than you, you live in different worlds" thing wouldn't hold. They both have a lot in common which is why Asahi is having this sudden spark of interest since his other friends never connected with him on this deep a level.

Unless the author pulls some wild out of left field reveal like Kanefumi is actually 30 but is just a really young looking Twink I don't see it being that big of a deal but I share your cautious skepticism since it is a weird thing to highlight and then arbitrarily cut off.

Yeah, at most they’re only a couple years apart if at all, I just thought it was funny.

I fully expect a soap opera melodrama to derail they’re relationship in the future though, like he dated Asahi’s estranged brother or something equally goofy.

I am starting to think that Asahi is demisexual or demiromantic to say the least. It does happen to many people in how feelings can develop from close bonds or time together than first attraction.

The hinted age gap was a thing mentioned since they first mentioned Kanefumi. I don't see the problem at it since he's probably 18 and Asahi is 16. Cinderella laws do exist.

There's no way the age gap is gonna be a contentious issue here, right? They seem very close in age, and Asahi is almost 18 I believe.

Unless there's like, some twist about Kanefumi secretly being 40 but I doubt it.

I think I can anticipate where this is going and man I feel bad.
He really is gonna fall in love for the first time but get rejected because the age gap is too big of a deal.

Boy I dunno, I don't think he actually likes him, he just feels the pressure of potentially losing someone he cares about for the first time in his life. Judging by the other stories in this manga, I could see Kanefumi taking it seriously, they start "dating", and then it getting stressed because Kanefumi figures out that the feeling Asahi feels isn't actually romantic love.

I think is my favorite arc so far, too. Some heavy stuff, but overall pretty relatable.
