You can say one thing about these misunderstandings. They sure are an easy way for our MCs to clarify whether or not they’re actually interested in someone or not. I mean, probably not in a literal “oh no, I am jealous. Guess I am teh gei!” kind of way, but at least a “I guess I am not indifferent to this persons affections after all.”

Is it just me that do not like it when the main character's family or close friends also turn out to be gay?
I know it's an easy way to introduce different couples that are connected to the main characters, but it still makes the world and story feel a little cheap and unrealistic to me.

It is an overused and unfortunately a pretty common trope when it comes to yuri. Lesbians per m2 is like 5 when the reality is like 0,0000001 on a good day. Plot needs side stories so you just gotta roll with it. Also both siblings being gay is not common at all.
