Now that I think about it, the dark elf princess needs to have a teacher accompanying her to the human country. Since she's so young, she still needs to learn a whole lot about her own culture and land. Nobody in the human empire can do it, so she needs to bring a teacher with her.

I reckon the elf prince will have his edge dulled considerably the moment he sees Ridd. Ridd's practically no older than the dark elf princess, so those two are more or less in the same boat: marrying far too young someone their country told them to marry. The only benefit Ridd has is that he can stay home, while the fiancée will need to move to his home. In that sense Ridd now paying a visit is actually a huge deal: He's willing to see and experience the dark elf land, not remaining arrogantly ignorant and uninterested.

Probably the greatest "advantage" that Ridd has in this situation his ability to listen and his empathy towards others. Brother can say "It's ridiculous for a six year old to marry!" and Ridd would very much say "I completely agree."
