Which is honestly also just dumb. Far better character growth would have been "Yes, I acknowledge you are a strong opponent I can't beat at this time. I accept this but won't let this drag me down, I will surpass you someday!" This would also set up a future antagonist and growth, which at this point is needed since he has surpassed the initial antagonists, his former party. If you're looking at a high level, you're absolutely right. But insecurities are deeper than "I'm insecure because Gary said I suck, so if I beat Gary I won't be insecure anymore!"
Dion said "If I stop here, while being looked down on, my blood will never stop boiling" which, when translated from Edgelord into English, is: "If I give up now, while being looked down on, I'll never grow past this."
He's been beaten down and trampled on until he had little self-esteem left. He's finally starting to believe in himself and ran into an opponent who is looking down on him the way his tormentors did, triggering a trauma response. He believes that he needs to beat this guy on his own or everything everyone said about him will be true (which, it's not. As you pointed out, he's already more than proven himself to everyone... everyone but himself, and no one is a harsher critic about you than you)
Did you... miss the earlier parts of the manga where all he had was an inferiority complex? Doesn't seem out of left field to me that it would come back now that hes facing an opponent he can't just beat without strategy and training. The problem is a lack of setup in getting to this point. Maybe it's set up better in the novel but definitely not in the manga. The inferiority complex he is showing in this chapter comes out of almost nowhere and is completely unwarranted. A smart warrior would know working together is better than a very high chance of dying. At this stage of the fight, it's no longer showcasing heroic tenacity and will- it's just showcasing dumb machoism.
Sure, which means the battle has dragged on for so long that his inferiority complex is basically forgotten about. Also, that does not change how poorly it is being handled.Did you... miss the earlier parts of the manga where all he had was an inferiority complex? Doesn't seem out of left field to me that it would come back now that hes facing an opponent he can't just beat without strategy and training.
he mentioned his healing isn't working right now.same, he will grab his swords and go for the real kill, as a healer he can afford that recklessness
because he essentially is. that was the whole point this is what an upleveled dungeon looks like and why it's important for the surveillance team to do it's jobI'm ngl I feel like this arc has been longer than it should have been, why is this dude so dam strong, dude acts like the final boss of a series, makes no sense![]()
this is not ONE FIGHT. this is 3-4 fights and while it has been going on for a while if you played it out in real life it would realistically only be about 5 minutes.credit where credit is due: this fight IS amazing
it's just ya know IT HAS OVER STAYED IT'S FUCKING WELCOME FFS AUTHOR
if you wanted to show you can do an epic fight in your goddamn manga author then congratu-fucking-lations you did it! NOW BE DONE WITH IT ALREADY AND CONTINUE ON WITH THE GODDAMN STORY FUCK
If that's the case he will survive but get ko'ed while simultaneously finishing the bosshe mentioned his healing isn't working right now.
Yeah, there's better ways for it to be handled for sure. Wasn't trying to defend that. Just trying to point out the nuance behind the obviousWhich is honestly also just dumb. Instead, we have stubborn foolishness risking the lives of everyone present for essentially just ego. He doesn't even know if his dragon wife can beat this monster on her own should he fail. Instead of training with his waifu or the guild leader to get stronger, he chooses an extreme life or death situation to refuse the help of others. I would almost prefer Dion to get a humbling beatdown over his stubborness winning the day.
bro even you can't ignore the fight (or fights apparently) could have been done 9x shorter than what is currently dragged out!this is not ONE FIGHT. this is 3-4 fights and while it has been going on for a while if you played it out in real life it would realistically only be about 5 minutes.
you want to bitch about fights overstaying their welcome go read dragonball or jojo. then you can complain.
The story has not stalled for this fight either Dion is showing his growth Yuki had her worldview shattered and blames herself for letting the assholes into the party and the assholes got a reality check and much Karma.
and we got an amazing villian and a very cool fight which you seem to be aware of.
honestly same my guy, i saw nice and quality art + naked dragon lady booba = immeditly bookmarkedEvery new chapter of this finds a brand new way to piss me off. I hate every plot development, almost every character motivation and decision. It's all fucking awful.
Theres only so long I can keep reading something for a well drawn naked dragon lady wearing way too little clothing
And then the evil dragon possessing the baldy attacks...next chapter he turns the tables and gets outta there with his 2 bitches in tow. im calling it now
even a timewaster can say thiscredit where credit is due: this fight IS amazing
it's just ya know IT HAS OVER STAYED IT'S FUCKING WELCOME FFS AUTHOR
