So is the enemy commander good at what he does, or does he adamantly refuse to employ recon, subterfuge, probing strikes, and environmental traps while also refusing to learn anything from his opponent? This series wants to tell me both are true, but that's not possible.

Both are true. He is good at commanding his troops in the way he does, and can get good results from those battles, but he can certainly achieve better results with more creative methods. He's like an athlete who nails the basics perfectly, but doesn't go out of his way to try fancy techniques that might have higher risk.

Or at least, that's what they've shown so far. Let's see how he reacts to our little reaper.

This chapter started so suddenly with a back story, that I was wondering if this chapter was miss posted. Then I vaguely recognized the guy and his love interest, RIP. Until I saw that flag and was like "Oh, hey Olivias. When'd you get here?"

The manga doesn't have to have perfect logic, its fiction. The real military is fucking boring as shit, who'd want to read that.

There are no missing chapters, everything is according to the raw. The problem is that the manga author/artist cut/shortened many parts of the novel, making it look like there are missing chapters.

To respond to the missing chapter allegations:
All the chapters i did are in fact one chapter higher than they should be. So ch45 is actually 46 etc.
One of the previous translators probably missed one at some point, or numbered it wrong. Or maybe it's a Chapter-0 to Chapter-1 situation.
So to avoid MD telling you there's a gap in the chapters, i just numbered them wrong too, and will continue to do so.
Once we catch up to the raws at ch53, i'll first redo ch45 with the TL the previous translator sent me, and then compare every chapter on here to the raws to find out if somethings missing.
If i find a chapter missing, i'll just insert it as XX.5 and explain the situation on the last page.
If not, if its a ch0/1 issue for example, it'll just stay as is since i can only edit the chapters i did.

I checked, the problem is in chapter 43.2. Based on RAW, chapter 43.2 should be chapter 44. There is no chapter 43.2 (and chapter 43.1 should be 43, without point) in the RAW version.

Chapter 43.2 = RAW Chapter 44.
