I would honestly be fine if Nicole leaves for the other country along side the Princess who leaves for her marriage. When Keiros finally returns to get Nicole he will see the Princess in her wedding dress, who reveals she isn't quite happy with marrying the Prince. Keiros will confide in Nicole and realise he DOES love the princess, that way Keiros and the Princess get to be happy together and Nicole can find her own life in that country as a writer or running a library.

Keiros I feel has no way to redeem himself with Nicole, hence why I feel making him realise he cares for the princess in that way would be better. Revealing he was just in love with Nicole's looks and used her as a sort of mental scape goat since he knew the Princess was engaged for a long time.

God he sucks. I’m glad his parents seem better adjusted.
His parents seem to be partially responsible for this mess to begin with. They seem to think everything is going alright between her and him, and more to the point they didn't even bother asking his opinion about her going to a different country, which implies they're just as neglectful of their child as he was of her. They never even seemed to think it was a problem that he was spending so much time with a woman that wasn't his fiancée, or talked to him about how he should spend some time with his fiancée.

god, this series is actually getting annoying.

No one is honest, everyone is oblivious or dense as a black hole, the ML can’t fucking tell her straight he loves her, all his friends are doing are being idiots who can’t help and make things actively worse.

The punchline is always the same to the point that even though I understand, i’m starting to get annoyed with the mc.

It feels like the author wrote this specifically to talk about feminism and how a woman doesn’t need a man to be successful and happy but in the most annoying way possible by focusing on the man and showing how much of a dumbass not only he is but his friends are. I can’t even blame it all on him because his surroundings seemed to be actively detrimental to him being a good and honest person.

It also feels like his interests don't match his actions or his history. If he loves her, why would he have ignored her for years just to hang out with his childhood friend instead? Why would nobody have noticed and said anything about it? Why would he even still keep feelings for somebody he doesn't spend any time with in the first place? I don't really buy this entire situation to begin with, it's like I have to acknowledge that these characters sprang into existence im their current states at the start of chapter 1 rather than having a history prior to it that lead them to the beginning of the story.

Deserved. :dogkek:

But this chapter did remind me that
I enjoy pathetic cute men 👀
so uh, would not mind if this story ends in Keios pathetically grovelling for Nicole's attention and affection (respectfully) for several years while she enjoys her life and career in the city. Maybe Nicole does gradually come to recognize and reciprocate his affections, maybe not. Either way, I would love to see this poor sad little man boy  struggling for the many years to come (even longer than Nicole did w/ him). :meguu: :dogkek:

I feel like I've had a revelation. I don't want to see this solely for catharsis or justice served anymore, I just want to see him suffer because it's cute and funny. He's so stupid, there's potential. :dogkek: Aah, I forget I'm not a good person.

Honestly best case scenario keios uses this time where nicole is away as a husband training arc
He alreqdy loves her so all he has to do is become the kind of man a person could love.
Learn about her interests (maybe even keep up the letters so he can finally learn to respond in a timely manner), learn some common sense, maybe develop a few skills and bam, actual person youd maybe think about dating.
The time away may also heal the distrust nicole has in him a bit and maybe if shes gracious enough he can reignite the spark that he snuffed out.
More likely hell just do the irresponsible thing and chase after her cause who cares about noble duties, right?

Does the WN end the same way as depicted here, e.g. with her going abroad? Or did they change stuff around to make room for part 2?
the novel skip directly to her being abroad for a year already, and him following her trying to win her back.

Thanks a ton for translating! Had fun reading it so far.

I'm with some others regarding Keios' behavior being partially on his parents.
His father said to her 'Do as you please!', so I'm guessing he's had a hands-off approach to his son as well.
And his mother going 'nothing wrong with making boys wait on you'..? Excuse me?
Did the two simply dump him to his teachers and the princess, and expect that he'd be a perfect little heir, without ever checking on how, oh I don't know, the correspondence between the engaged parties are going?? Or what, they think him acting that way with zero attempts at correctiing his behavior between the childhood and the school had absolutely nothing to do with them, so he was just reaping what he sowed, because he was supposed to realize that something was wrong with keeping up the routine he's had from even before the engagement (to my understanding)???

Seems like negligence runs in the family.

On another note, Keios was reading off like a male tsundere in a way. He loves her, but until it was far too late, he never even told her, much less showed it. He's got a lot to learn and do to make an attempt at making up to her for years of making her miserable.

I'm intrigued by the story going beyond WN's plot. I wonder if the author gave some suggestions regarding that. Nothing wrong if they didn't, TBH.

This incompetent fool…

Only if he swims across the ocean and climbs the Himalaya after her that I will consider sparing him some sympathy.

What an absolute dipshit.

So a "I'm off to another country. Goodbye, fucko." is how the novel ends? Perfect.

That said, having seeing how their distance started, it definitely feels like the adults responsible for Kaios's education are majorly at fault here. Not more than the man himself, but like...you really left this kid be without checking on his relationship with his fiancee?
For that matter, you weren't able to tell he was troubled by the letter? Or taught him how to actually interact with his lady?

Stupid kids need more guidance, not less.

I'm still not ok with her still being bound to this retard even after leaving the country but i will take it. At least she can do what she wants over there without this mongoloid breathing down her neck.

I wouldn't want to be around when this smoothbrain takes over the house.

Yeeees she didn’t blush and fluster when he held her and said selfish shit :win: Go go woman you’re free, don’t catch feelings for a selfish brat like him :win:
Thanks for the translation
I love it. She's not some shy maiden who's embarrassed to be held by a man. She's a grown ass woman who just wants her personal space respected

Honestly, think that's it for the man. There is nothing he can do to further his objective, apart from literally kidnapping her and forcing her to stay, which will totally make her love him...

Let Nicole be free from this man, who still can't see reality, even after being told it.
I mean what has he even done, really? Has he even apologized or really tried to explain why he ignored her? I don't think his reason is adequate so if he were to explain I don't see a real woman forgiving him, but he hasn't even tried to correct her misunderstanding

I would say more than just partially. I would put it at mostly. The fact that nobody ever clued him or the princess in on just how horrendous their actions were (because she is at least as responsible as his parents, mitigated only by her being his age rather than an adult) means that these two idiots were left on their own as children with nobody telling them what he should be doing and what he (and the princess) shouldn't be doing.

I also blame Nicole's parents, for not noticing for that long that their daughter was being horrendously neglected.

The fact is, it's impossible to measure this situation by modern standards because we don't go engaging children to each other these days. When the parents agreed to do that, they signed themselves up for ensuring their children understood how to navigate this adult situation together. Being children, they very obviously would not know what their obligations were.

All those success stories we saw in the background (well, mostly Lobelia and her beau) almost certainly had parents or equivalent adults helping them learn how to manage such a relationship, because children are not born knowing how to do that.
