If they think a "buff" is cheating
Why don't they also buff themself, or just debuff the enemies.
If they can't. It just mean "skill issue"

You're not wrong, but you could also argue that's the same logic as the blacksmith that made your gear is fighting alongside you.

He may have been handed the power up but at least he's trained to use it properly unlike some MCs. (Unless I'm getting my very similar plotlines crossed)

I hope they wreck those two. I hope they absolutely wreck them, turn them in as criminals that assaulted one of his party, and attacked others in his party, stole their already captured bounties/property, and then are charged for attempted murder when the MC tried to get the stolen bounties back.

…but no. All we’ll get is maybe they turn them in both as a joint partnership and chastise the guild for fucking the arrangement up in the first place sigh.

So while he's wanting to fight on his own, and not rely on the others, he's still using enhancement from the contract. It's literally still relying on them. Self depreciation cringe.

I am not sure if it is the writing or the pacing but man this just dumb. Why is this silly fighting taking a year to finish. When we know how it is going to end regardless. You could have just shown us the MC being down on a slum for relying or his team and they cheer him up or something.

Saying I am doing this by myself only to use every buff under the sun from your taming skill takes away any sort of supposed character growth or seriousness from it.

The problem isn't that he's getting a buff from them.
The problem is that he's claiming as as a point of pride that he's fighting on his own.

It's the twisted trope where an MC is looked down on because he's a support character... Only for it to be revealed that his support skills are the determining factor in fights, and that the hero party falls apart without him. But then the author (almost) invariably also makes the support MC also strong in solo fights.

So in the end the author actually confirms the hero party's position that "You're really no good unless you're top DPS."

(This doesn't happen all of the time in these sorts of stories, but it certainly seems like it happens most of the time.)

Edit: I think I skipped some connective logic there...

• Remember Rein is originally a pure support guy for the hero party, using animals for porting, scanning, etc. Not even a dps at all. Then he gets kicked out for being "deadweight" (i.e. not dpsing).
• Then it turns out that he's a beast tamer, including of ultimate beasts, which means that he can contribute dps -- indirectly.
• Now, the story could have just stopped with him using beasts to fight for him. But...
• He also gets a stat boost from his tamed beasts, so now he can be on the frontline, and dps on par with them.
• Message: Being support sucks. You need to be top dps! I.e. exactly the standard used to kick him from the heroes party.
• Lame as this is, the author has to add another bit of hypocrisy on top of this, by claiming that he's fighting on his own, when in fact he's still benefitting from the stat boost that he gets from his tamed beasts.

Edit: Is it related to chapters up to 85 being available on MangaUp now? Though that's kinda odd as there's lots of different titles where the fan TL that came before the official En TL ones were kept around here on Dex.
