This grey area just boils down to the MC being kinda shit as a boyfriend right? Honestly after reading this far along it’s abundantly clear that he doesn’t spend much time considering how other people (especially the girls around him) feel.

I can’t imagine that Reina will have anything to say that will change my mind about whether or not she cheated (she absolutely did), but it might show us that (at least to Reina) the MCs close friendship also amounted to a form of emotional cheating.

Reina is a moron and also had awful people whispering in her ear. Her actions clearly have Natsuki’s fingerprints all over them, not to mention the guy “friend” who wanted to get into Reina’s pants. Real friends would have told Reina to talk it out with the MC, but instead we get this gaslighting clusterfuck. Maybe Natsuki planned all this to happen in the first place for all we know.

One thing that struck me as odd was that Reina didn’t appear apologetic at all. Instead, she was condescending as fuck and clearly talking down to the MC like this was all amusing. Why did she even show up now? She saw the MC was doing ok now and decided to mess around with his mind again? What a joke.

In a normal story they would have just had a fight and broke up before things became like this.

The MC, Reina, and Natsuki are all toxic people and should be chemically sterilized for the good of humanity.

Women like Reina will have full blown affairs to feel young and beautiful..they’re insecure and need and want validation…felling ugly = affair … ugly after pregnancy = affair … getting old = affair .. no longer getting stares from men = affair
They will do this and not even think they’re guilty of cheating

Yuta wouldn't have gotten slapped for that grab if he'd locked in during the ryokan stay like god intended.

Novelupdates has that Ln and wn. The wn really spells out her motivations and 0erspectives on things. It's been a few months since it was updated though unfortunately...
I think the WN translation is like 2 chapters away from being up to date, but there is no much point in continuing it because it never gonna be completed, unlike the LN, but the translation is still so early lol

edit: rechecking, the WN tl is up to date, so thats it for it

As much as ayaka is a pretty likeable character this chapter really encapsulated why she is really just your typical losing heroine and why she is bound to lose here. She knows something isn't right but will constantly decide to maintain the same distance as ever as to not feel like she is intruding in his personal matters while shinohara completely blew pass these types of concern and will not hesitate to help the MC reach the clarity he needs to resolve his conflict with his ex.

Uh . . . What? Like really, what even was that.
Open to interpretation? Extenuating circumstances? What, did the other guy put a gun on her head or something? Come the fuck on, that's bullshit and you know it.
There ARE NO EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES on cheating, no points of view, no interpretations, nothing.
You either love the other person and care for how your actions will make them feel, and act accordingly, or you simply don't. That's it.

The deal with Ayaka in this chapter is that she understands as a fellow woman that her friendship with the MC is the spark of conflict in his relationship with Reina but if she points that out what will happen is that she will seem as a manipulator: he will blame Reina because of their friendship just like she did blame her; that's why she seem a bit conflicted. She takes his word for granted as a friend, if you say she cheated she did but if she had a talk with her she will fully understand her reasoning. It is also important for this exchange about Natsuki to happen because they have finally tied everything together. Natsuki has been playing Ayaka too, not just the MC.

The thing with the kouhai is because she also symphatized, she herself feels very insecure about Ayaka despite her being nothing romantic for the MC, just a friend. But she is biased against Ayaka since before so after the conversation it is clear she picked a side but having interacted with him for a while she also understands that he was never a bad guy she knows first hand that his relationship with Ayaka is an open book because unlike Reina they even share university. She has gone to his club and stayed at his place and she can confirm that Reina's insecurities were just that.

The MC is conflicted because of his own assumptions, he ultimately just wanted closure. He can't really move on with his own life if he doesn't make peace with this topic on his own terms. Even if Reina is still a cheater in his opinion he still understand that he never allowed her a chance proper to also get closure. He concluded there's a set of actions he had done that must have inclined her to do these things instead of her just doing them over nothing which is what hurt him.

I'd not say he believes he is at fault or that he's being tricked into believing so just that the plot is implying that his way of handling relationships and what he finds as normal is indeed not and the setting wants him to like realize this on his own. Is it really normal to live like he does with the koukai without them being nothing really? is it okay for him to be so close with Ayaka despite having already a girlfriend?

What I don't like is how the work is framing him at actually being in the wrong and I believe there's a bit of projection here. As always I understand the idea the writer tried to put on paper but the execution really sucks, Natsuki has no right to judge the MC over anything he did.

You know, I might be the only one willing to die on this hill, but I’m extremely upset with this chapter.

Instead of giving us the actual conversation between Reina and Shinohara—finally revealing why she cheated on Yuuta and what her reasons were—the story skips to the very next day. We get Yuuta reflecting on what Reina was trying to say, running into Ayaka, and talking to her about Natsuki. But that feels like a complete waste of time when the real subject should be Reina.

...

So yeah, I’m extremely upset. I don’t mean to cuss, but if you’re going to tell us what happened, don’t have us running in circles. What should’ve been revealed in Chapter 29 is now being dragged into Chapter 31 because Chapter 30 was a complete waste of time.
The good thing about getting so far behind in my manga reading is this chapter only wasted the time it took to read it and didn't cause an ADDITIONAL month wait for me.

I think last chapter's "what is cheating" answer opened Reika's eyes a bit. Too bad it was AFTER her discussion with Yuuta. It may have changed their meeting and we wouldn't have gotten to where we are in this chapter. She maybe would have said "I didn't think I cheated but maybe I did."

There's an Adult game on Steam, Life with a College Girl, (I haven't played it) where the heroine looks a lot like Ayaka. From screen caps it appears to have an ending with what most people here consider to be the desired result. I think this is as close as Ayaka fans are going to get, unfortunately...

There are, ahem, other types of screen caps too...

Like I said. I spoiled myself by reading a few later chapters in the novels. And, again, while I disagree with her conclusion, her doubts and insecurities makes her reasoning make sense to her. Even if i personally would be saying to her "girl what even is the matter with you, that's not how you parse out your feelings of insecurity and doubt. Wtf"
Can you spoil me whats her deal?
She actually cheated for real or it was just what MC saw? (she and the guy grabbing each others hands) I mean if she did fuck the other guy or anything else.
Why she did it?

i remember from reading a comment that said that all that happened was the guy tryed to talked her into getting revenge on her cheating boyfriend and tryed to make the moves on her she then pushed him onto the ground and Refused his advances the mc only saw the hand holding part and it was all planed out by the main villain to ruin the mc relationship

I just hope the black-haired girl beats those two sluts who are only using the main character. And why does the main guy let that slut into his house to cook every day?
