They have been in the process of finding out for 58 chapters and they have not learned a single thing, its honestly rather impressive.
Tho all humour aside i would really like for there to be actual progress at some point, we cant just status quo this shit for another 50 chapters without it getting boring.

I just personally never assume "Harem" because I think it's a truly lazy answer ~97% percent of the time in romance manga.
I'd prefer the work be put in to make a clear winner if there's multiple romance interests for the protagonist, because (in my admittedly singular experience) the author saying "and they all loved MC together!" is a result of either subpar writing in being unable to make one romance option actually stand out from the others over the course of the story, or kowtowing to the fan base who demand "their pick not lose".

So if it's gonna be one of the three, then I just hope it's one of the three, who clearly does something to differentiate herself and prove she's the one Kotaro should pick. Again--just my personal preference when it comes to manga in general, and I realize I will likely not see that come to pass here.

And by that logic, Akira would technically meet that requirement, having met Kotaro's mom.

I'd like to change your way of thinking about this, a harem end isn't an outcome of lazy writing, a harem or a single option is just the result of a story, and should be judged if they are justified well by the writing. I think kanojo mo kanojo is good and gotoubun is simply just to subvert expectations

That honestly feels like a whole lot of extra writing that might be better served as extra content, rather than the main story. I'm not immediately certain how you'd make it all canon without something like multiverse/timeline shenanigans, and that would be too far out of left field when this has been a very grounded, realistic title up to this point in terms of science fiction/fantasy stuff.

It's doable, but it feels more like Fanbox/Pixiv type content, to me.

It would be the same as Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai. That one had a route for each girl and a sort of bonus chapter at the end where it was everyone, and I think it's a valid option. You can just think of each as a valid possibility.

Ultimately I care about quality of story writing, whatever actually happens.
S'why I couched my statement in "I only have my singular experience", which has not seen success in good harem endings. But they do necessarily exist by virtue of the quantity of manga out there, so I'll start with the two you mentioned and go from that.

I really liked when we got backstory around his dad, and why he befriended them in the first place.

It really just feels like the gimmick of the title is going to just cause this whole thing to stagnate, sadly. I keep hoping for more plot development outside of "challenge! Loss! Humiliating punishment game!", and it seems we might get something next chapter, but.

Maybe this title's just not for me, at this point. Can't let "Sunk Cost for 58 chapters" trap me in something I'm struggling to enjoy.

And, given they've spent however many chapters humiliating him with their punishment games instead of just coming out and saying "I like you, I want us to date", Kotaro being dense and suspicious is absolutely understandable to me, so.

It's doable, but it feels more like Fanbox/Pixiv type content, to me.

No need for supernatural, just branch the story immediately before, say, Kotaro's confession and have readers decide which route is canon to them. So far the harem is very balanced so if things stay this way it's believable that he could choose any of the girls. But I'd be fine even just some extra what if chapters.
Now will the author do something like that? The only other series I read from him wasn't an harem so I don't know how he plans to handle this one.
