I hope the dude becomes more active in the future, since everything in this chapter happened without his input.
His mom invited the girl over for dinner, the girl said they should call each other by their first names, the sister pushed for her to come back all the time, the mom even told the dude to walk her home, AND the girl shared her feelings about how nice it was to talk to him again (and he couldn't even reciprocate, he just said "oh").

The guy did nothing.
So hopefully this chapter is just a sort of spur to make the main dude change and be more active, rather than this whole manga being about a loser who needs the entire universe to bend and get him a girlfriend.
