I'm kinda reminded of that one bit in the film, The Sandlot, where they're watching the lifeguard
"She don't know what she's doin! She don't know what she's doin!"
"Nah man. She knows exactly what she's doin."
In this case... She knows for a fact that she's playing to this guy's strengths. Which means that she's trying to prove a point. And probably to more than just her subordinates. That she knows how to spot talent, and how to effectively utilize it.
It may be just a Tuesday for our man here, but he's getting used like a tool. Not in a bad way, mind. More like how a master mechanic sees what needs to be done, and reaches into his tool chest and gets the exact tool for the job he needs without even looking. No abuse, no neglect, just forthright and proper application.
Granted, it's no different than how it was before, just the the face of The Boss has changed. (Shades of The Who's We Won't Get Fooled Again here... "Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss...")
