Considering the nature of the series,and once the fella who has read the full novel bestows us with his wisdom once more(he's the bees knees for sure),a good guess would be one of those romantic dramas where he is torn with his duty as a man to protect the lass and his duty towards his country to have her ass prosecuted.

He just might die a heros death,and leave her so heart broken that not even her impending doom could make her any sadder.

Alternatively,Japan might just pursue the issue on a lower scale with undercover agents,meaning a prolonged life for her with him,which may itself end in a multitude of ways.

There's a been a lot of tales of this sort of situation,especially in the more classical Western films where males were real men.

Well, she definitely screwed up. I am pretty sure it was because of her upbringing.

It seems Japan only wants the empire to hand her over. Not for the death penalty, I am pretty sure too. Most likely for a life sentence. But since she is a noble lady, it probably feels like one.

tbh in her defense when your told your gonna be handed over you probaly presume its for execution consdiering the medieval like times she lives in
