It's primarily something that happened before the start. Long story short, the main heroine had a very rough time before meeting the MC, and the opening arc is about helping her heal. It gets stupid after that, and such themes aren't really relevant at all.

Hey Mr. Author, you know what would have been better for this arc? If you had properly shoved it into the timeline instead of this weird flashback sequence using the exposition bunny girl. It makes no sense given the context of the story now, who is the bunny girl flash backing for? Knight girl was at this event, she doesn't need a flashback. Iver and Mirio are currently boning in another room so presumably they aren't viewing the flashback. Who is this for except to handwave the "Please see Volume 4 Light Novel for details" in a previous chapter for the readers?

Even the course correction back to the smut the manga was originally about is ham fisted and needlessly convoluted. Is the author okay mentally? Did they have a psychotic break at some point from stress or something? Does whatever magazine this is publish in even have editors? So many questions that I fear we'll never get answers to lest the story turn into another fever dream of arbitrary tropes like last time (honestly it looks like it might very well be there already, except the trope category is "hentai" instead of "shonen battle").
