I've been warned off how long this stand-off would go on but this sure was an entire chapter for "we can prove the witnesses aren't lying but also they're not telling the truth" countered with "I'm the crown prince and above giving a shit!!!"

It's always fun when academic-type characters show up and the author actually writes them properly. There are a lot of connections between that language analysis pot and ongoing discourse regarding the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging for lie detection. Just like in real life, it's obviously not admissible in court and it arguably violates an individual's 5th amendment rights, but that's something that legal scholars should talk about rather than being the purview of scientists, let alone magical glottochronologists. Anyway, I really liked this chapter! Thank you for translating it.

I know it's the running bit of the entire story, but Mana adding in her idiotic two cents and having it seemingly be as powerful and effective as literal magical brainwashing is incredibly tiresome.

Screw the crown prince. It's one thing that his memories were manipulated and he might have believed Lunaria to be in the wrong, but this chapter made it abundantly clear that he has no interest in the actual truth whatsoever and dismisses all her evidence by default.
That is a character flaw making him unsuitable for his position.

The rope for Mana to hang herself on is being braided slowly and delicately hair by hair. I guess it’ll be highlighted inconsistencies stacked one on top of the other and some hard evidence at the end to wrap it up. Coupled with everyone being caught in the trap of their own statements on top.

This meal should be delectable :smugchisato:

Thanks for the TL

with the two first i'm almost certain that they are not mean to defend her but setting the mood so to speak
it's more of a popularity contest than a tribunal, she can't "win" directly against the saintess because of her naturally high thrust and popularity. she has prepared the terrain by not definitively counter their argument, but cast doubt on their witness and the shadow that the saintess may not be as trustworthy as she appear and her next witness will probably deal a debilitating blow
