boooooring, where is hebikawa?
you underestimated trauma.I dunno - the fact that Kusunoki seemingly learned nothing from that incident, and behaves around Keisuke exactly as she did around Ren while ...I guess being surprised that history might be repeating itself, doesn't really fill me with confidence that this won't devolve into more of the standard formulae of romcoms.
I find it difficult to believe that she seemingly just isolated herself all throughout middle school and devoted zero time or effort in trying to figure out what went wrong. Even if she thinks it was her fault (laughable, but whatever), lacking the level of introspection to simply question the events and think about how to do better, just doesn't make sense to me - even if she was just entering adolescence.
We are shown she's an intelligent girl who actually is capable of analysis after the fact, so just being told "oh and then she went on for several years as an isolated otaku with zero friends" only to be pretty much the same person, developmentally, come 1st year in high school just....feels super forced for the sake of narrative.
But I just feel bad for Otobe in all of this. She did her due diligence and asked to make certain that she wouldn't be stepping on Kusunoki's toes if she went after Keisuke - and Kusunoki parroted the same line about "not getting romance".
So if she's worried about all of this now, that kinda indicates she does know that Keisuke has feelings for her, because why else would this even come up for her? Except she spent all that time denying it, and hanging onto him in the same way she did in this flashback, and thus the fallout is kinda her fault, this time, by way of not being proactive.
yeah Hebikawa is queenHebikawa would have lead the rumors on the opposite side
Same can be said about the brat lol. He acted with such confidence that she liked him, and thought that all he needed to do was take of the "nuisance" between them.Classic "I hurt them", when it's the opposite 😐
Also, it's weird how she now decides to hold back her friend said that, because neither of them has the right to decide who he ultimately likes, almost makes it look like the person says "Okay, so you like him, fine you can take him", it do be icky
Nah not really it'd be annoying as those shitty mangas where the heroine is a complete cunt but gets her way all the time and the MC is just a little bitch that goes along with it because plot.I am anti-snake bitch but ngl some part of me thinks snake-bitch romance would make for a more interesting manga

It's basically for plot manga readers with no self-esteem or boundaries thinking it's "interesting".
1. Japanese school bullying is vicious. She got traumatised by it and she was growth stunted on this particular matter.I dunno - the fact that Kusunoki seemingly learned nothing from that incident, and behaves around Keisuke exactly as she did around Ren while ...I guess being surprised that history might be repeating itself, doesn't really fill me with confidence that this won't devolve into more of the standard formulae of romcoms.

Good Old Japanese Public Ostracization Over Rumors !!
I swear, it's like 99% of the Anime Mob Population are just waiting on stand-by to just exclude anybody over anything !!
"Hey, I heard that guy once colored the sky on his drawing with a slightly darker blue... LET'S EXCLUDE HIM SOCIALLY !!!"
You might like this series called Masamune-Kun's Revenge. Chunky boy gets rejected then tries to make his former bully/love interest fall in love with him, for revenge.I am anti-snake bitch but ngl some part of me thinks snake-bitch romance would make for a more interesting manga
