NGL, while this backstory fits to Kusunoki's aversion when it comes to romance,
That's my problem. She doesn't have aversion. She, quite literally, doesn't understand the concept (still) and apperantly it has always been like this. This backstory changes nothing or helps the story or her character in any shape or form. So she had a similar situation before. And? She doesn't like the MC (not yet anyway). What is the point of this? If she had already fall in love and knew MC's feelings as well THEN it would make sense but not at this point in the story.

She is acting like MC already confessed like before. Did i miss it?

This at least kinda explains Kusunoki's overall "pure" personality. She might have the tism after all.

That’s why friendships between different sexes never really work.

And if they do, it’s either because you chickened out or you’re gay.
Nah, man! You just need to be friends with girls that you are simply not attracted to. There's a good chance that romantic feelings will develop because of our biological instinct, but it can absolutely work.

For example, my BFF back in high school was a girl and I didn't have any romantic feelings for her and she didn't either because she liked a guy from a different section. In fact, half of my friends currently and back in HS were girls and gays, and none of them were trying to hit on me either because they are taken or they didn't have any romantic feelings for me, and I didn't either.

Since your data is based on yourself, I’ll counter it with mine. Most of the time, whenever a girl joins my circle, the circle ends up falling apart because some of my friends can’t keep their hands to themselves. That’s why my circle now has a strict no-girls rule. If you want to date, go ahead, just don’t join the circle.

Honestly this just makes the FMC live up to the title of this manga. She is going to continue flunking her high school glow up because she isnt actually reflecting on what about her causes conflict with those around her and just kinda blindly stumbling forward. So far IIRC most if not all of her growth has come after the MC points something out to her so she understands it. So either she will finally realize something is wrong, and change it, or she will repeat the cycle.

If all I wanted was a realistic story, I can spend the 23 minutes of average anime episode looking at what I'm currently doing in my own life instead, but it would be boring and pointless.
Yea this exact analogy does not work at all. A random period of 23 minutes of your live can not be considered a story, even if one were the most interesting person in the world, it would still not be a story by definition. And on the other hand, I reckon there'd be 23 minutes worth of events to be cherry-picked from your life that can be arranged into a story.
Yeah, but they're not good material for main characters, and if writer can't imagine anyone else for their story, that's a problem with writing.
We're on chapter 45.1 of this story, something keeps bringing us to these chapters and into these threads, and by gods do I hope it is not something as stupid as "reading it ironically", so I'll assume there's something of interest in their writing.
Now Kusunoki. First, her backstory, while quite a cliche in manga, doesn't really happen to that many people in real life, it is more of a survivorship bias thing, I don't think there are that many people who've went through a relationship drama by the age of 11.
Second, the parts that make me dislike Kusunoki are her least realistic parts - her unbelievable idealism and naivete. She isn't a bland person by real world standards, and she isn't considered one within the world of the manga.
What I am saying is, Kusunoki's issues as a character are not from some quantifable realism or her real world blandness, they come from something else.

I really hope they're using this cliché trope as a trigger for some much needed character development for her. She's not a terrible character just bland like cardboard. She needs some kick, some aggression, something that sets her from the rest aside from being extremely passive
Yeah, this manga has started moving way too slow for about the past year for it to now start with some terrible cliché stuff. I feel like in-universe, maybe a few days has happened in the last year irl.

I don't know if you meant it this way, but your choice of wording makes those friends sound like impulsive horndogs who are incapable of controlling themselves around a woman, which....doesn't so much refute the other person's anecdote, as paint your associates in a rather unflattering light.

What's this nonsense? First, that wording make it sound like your friends are some rapists. And if you just meant that one of them started to like the girl, it shouldn't be any problem for your circle if they start dating. Unless you meant that all of them would fall for any girl that appears in your circle and start fighting over her, in which case your circle is full of too horny freaks.

Are you in high school in your no-girls club? As normal adult, my circle of friends is full of couples, often married, some with kids, so obviously it's mixed-gender. I've even seen some of them get together, went to weddings. It even sounds like you don't want people who date in your circle, so that sounds like club for male virgins.
