Not rumours and from before ML took over the villain's body?

Literally the story begins with the butler telling him, "the maid that dropped a vase on your head is in the torture chamber" --> proceeds with maids asking to not get beheaded --> father telling him to stop being so benevolent to the servants.
Then Elina accuses him/his family of driving her dad insane (first hand experience here).

So I'm guessing he was probably a horrible person.

Yes, the manga literally starts with the torture chamber. If anything, it's going to be hard justifying the other people trusting him. It SHOULD take some time to accomplish that.

I remain.. cautiously... optimistic that this could be a decent read. But I'm curious to see if it will focus on the romance, on the "slice of life" or on the main world's story.
