Alright, as far as arbitrary reasons for a newbie adventurer to take on a max-level difficulty quest right off the bet, making it a mistake by a newbie is as good an excuse as any.

I wonder what the guild would have actually done if their examiner died there? Like...they were the ones hyping him up as a ridiculously strong guy and clearly this newbie taking the exam has no point of reference.
