"Go out on a date with me."
"Absolutely not."
"Hmph" pouts

"My mental health will take fatal damage."

"She's holding my handkerchief hostage!"

So many good gems in consecutive fashion. All of this combined with Kusunoki's childish yet adorable fever mode like Kaguya from Love is War, this has been one of the most entertaining chapters lately.

Kusunoki my not ever recognize feelings for the MC. She might not have those feelings.

Honestly the “guys can’t be friends with girls thing.” I think if she gets with MC it’s a spit in the face to why that comment even mattered.

Especially with such a sparce male cast. I can see this bubbling over somehow but I can see end game I think. Unless Hebikawa does some backwards math

I dont get why people like Hebikawa so much, she's a horrible person in general. She rejected the mc and talked behind his back when they we're young (which lead to trauma), she's is actively trying to make Kusunoki show her non-existent dark side just because someone that looked like her had one, she is the fakest character in the manga, looks down on other people, and she harasses the mc on the regular.

Can someone please tell me how she is likeable? Because all i see are red flags, am I crazy for thinking that?

youre not but for some people, an "evil" personality is better/more interesting than no personality (Kusunoki). also neuron activation.

That girl having his handkerchief is gonna come back to bite him in the ass
You realise she's only figuratively a witch, right? She can't make a working voodoo-doll out of a hankie.

Oh, you meant her usual (non-supernatural) backstabbyness! Gotcha.

i'm looking at the long-term prospects. if she gets her redemtion, the payoff will be astronomical

if not, then it was a fun ride. Win-Win

Kusunoki started off great but recently starting to hold back, not be herself, and do the usual self-sabotage. i got turned off

I love antagonist-redemption/correction arcs so much it's unreal, the longer it takes the better, cuz more time for it to develop naturally and with more depth to the story. Which means not just a huge payoff, but also the process itself takes a lot of time = more of this goodness to enjoy.
In this manga I don't even dislike Kusonoki at all (unlike many commenters here), she's great for me, but I also can't get enough of Hebikawa 🐍🐍🐍.
