Next chapter will end right before they kiss, chapter after that will be a flashback to a student council meeting, chapter after that will be Mom and Dad backstory that involves the ferris wheel, chapter after that will be the rest of the guitar performance, chapter after that will be the ferris wheel operator's career, chapter after that will be Akebi getting home while vaguely alluding to something maybe happening that we'll possibly see in a flashback in a future chapter
ts got me cry laughing because i can see this happening. 😭

Uploader team, thank you for your hard work!

To all of you guessing out there, the manga actually didnt take so much time to come to the point of those two becoming a couple. So dont be so mean, so to speak. There were mangas like Lily by pickapee and that author is the one who baited for years with chapters and chapters and nothing happened in their works at all. So hate on authors like these because they deserve hate. However Akebi is a BEAUTIFUL project and a very rare normal yuri manga , unlike gazzilion others yuri projects filled with toxicity and violence. And hey these are also children. So we should not expect sex and to be honest not even a kiss. Not until they are older even. And then it is worth the wait. I mean people, not everyone is Ratana Satis for example and it is ok. If you want explicit and sexual then go read Ratana or some other similar artist. Let Akebi and her friends be the kids they are.

I feel like commiserating over the wait time involved with serialized stories is super normal and present in almost every community. Acting like Akebi is above playful criticism after a single date has been happening for 6+ months is a bit silly.

Like, Berserk is a modern masterpiece and people meme'd about a boat for a decade.
To be fair, 90% of that has just been the release schedule and the scanlation kerfuffle that happened a while back. Reading the chapters back to back its paced very masterfully.

I wonder what spheres people are in that they find non-toxic, non-violent yuri to be rare. There's plenty of it. Unfortunately a lot of it gets axed, but we get some that last quite a while like Hana ni Arashi.

I think it's just for whatever reason the toxic stuff is more popular so it's easier to run across, but there's plenty of fluff if you look for it.

That said, I don't consider Akebi to be a yuri romance story. I consider it to be an extremely artistic slice of life story obsessed with motion, about connecting with people and the value of friendships and mutual support...which also eventually has a yuri romance in it too.

I mean the anime doesn't even get to any of the romance parts and it was a masterwork.

Hmm, the intensity feels exaggerated without adding much to the character development. Despite loving the art style still, I feel like I know these two girls less now than before the date arc started. I'm curious about the author's purpose in doing it this way...
Yeah, sometimes you regret what you wish for. Shipping them with unfounded delusion was a lot better than what is being served up as "romance". Would have worked better if we had seen Erika pining for Komichi and then getting fulfillment. This build-up is feeling really contrived since the relationship was established as friends without romantic subtext and now making the transition beyond that is not really working in a satisfying way.

This is just cute friends hanging out in an amusement park. :)

This could be interpreted as platonic love.
I think the series as a whole works better like that but Erika's inner thoughts, which we are just now seeing the extent of, makes it clear that she is down bad for Akebi in a romantic way. Akebi platonically loving everyone is not out of character for her and a rejection or inconclusive response to an Erika's confession wouldn't be that surprising.

You would think they’re together at this point with the way they talk to each other, but they’re just best friends who like each other (for now)

No sex, but we were promised a kiss. So we'll get a goddamn kiss. It's exactly aroud this age that they have their first experiences in that regard. I got my first the same age as Komichi and Erika are now. So is not unrealistic at all.
