Yup! Japanese culture is VERY indirect. Being direct with stuff like that is considered rude. A lot of beating around the bush and reading the mood. This just reminded me that Japanese people sometimes don't say "oh, can you please leave" or "I think our time talking is done" but instead use subtle messages to tell you that. Some other cultures do that as well (not that I can list but I'm sure that's a thing)

Yep. If you hit an Uzbek teahouse (Chaikana) the etiquette is that you pour your guest half a cup of tea for each round, and the idea is that as long as you are at the table and people are talking/munching, peopl (you or others) will fill it halfway as a sign of hospitality. If they fill your cup of tea all the way it’s basically “okay, you are done here” and the protocol is to sip that tea down as quickly as possible, do the farewells and GTFO ASAP. Same goes for you filling up someone else’s tea. This just reminded me that Japanese people sometimes don't say "oh, can you please leave" or "I think our time talking is done" but instead use subtle messages to tell you that.
